Jimmy2 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I received this pipe years ago and I don't smoke pipes no more and I would like some info on it as what it is worth . I would like to see it go to a person who will enjoy it . PM It is in mint or near mint condition and I really think it was never smoked before it's as clean as it gets . Thank You
markmurase Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I've got to say that is a lovely pipe. Dunhill white spot pipes are legendary. In London stores today they cost more than 100 British Pounds new, so your mint condition heirloom must be worth substantiallty more than that.
Cohiba Stevie Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 2 things to consider: Year... If it's anything pre 1950s it will fetch quite a price, I even dunhill themselves will buy it back off you, but I couldn't give an estimate. Contact dunhill. Authenticity... Highly sought after items are the most faked and dunhill are by far the worse off pipe manufacturer when it comes to counterfeited items. You may want to speak to dunhill in London to get it verified. I suppose my advice is to speak to dunhill lol. Good luck mate. Let us know how it goes.

Your pipe looks like its in great condition, nice grains and from what I can see some nice 'Birds eyes' in the grain. Hard to tell what kind of Dunhill that is but if I were you, I'd eBay it and start the bidding at $100 and see where it goes. BTW, I don't believe it's been smoked before. Sometimes pipe makers pre-carbonize the inside of the bowls. It has a billiard style shank, is it filtered or non filtered? I could be wrong but I'm guessing you're from the states, which 99% of the time, Americans do not smoke filtered pipes, I don't know why. Either way, it's really well looked after and you will not have any issue selling it.
Jimmy2 Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Says made in England what looks like a 19 with a line under it .
Smallclub Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Jimmy, when one sells an estate Dunhill pipe, it is usual that ALL the markings and stamps are listed and copied in the ad, they are very important to Dunhill pipes connoisseurs. Hope that helps. This piece is a very nice one, btw.
Jimmy2 Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 My daughter just walked in and said if I got the pipe from a Leprechaun ! LoL I would like to maybe trade instead of money with a member here before I go a route like EBay .. Thanks again all Numbers on pipe 41839 Dunhill Root Braiar Some more pic's

Ok, I noticed a number on the pipe stem, did a little research and it's a Dunhill Root Briar Limited Christmas pipe. Year, unknown but that may be noted on the gold stem. Your pictures are too small to look at properly. 1
Onsto Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Hi Jimmy - I'm no expert but I'd start with retail value and work back from there to determine a sale price or trade value. Smokingpipes.com has an estate pipes section: refurbished but 'pre-enjoyed' Dunhills start there at $300 up, unsmoked ones start at $600 and go up to $1000. Obviously they refurbish the pipes themselves and are able to confirm authenticity. You could probably send them a couple of detailed pics and see what they offer you for it. 1
Marker Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 It is a post 1978 Dunhill. There are more numbers somewhere on the pipe. Need those for exact year.

Jimmy2 Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 On the box it says 8 grain DRXL also has 5 stars on the label .. Also earlier there is a number 19 next to made in England .. 41839 is the other numbers .. I seen other Dunhills with the Gold band most were over 1,200 and up .. Also I think the band is real gold ... Sent info to Smoking pipes will see what they say .. Thanks again
nikonNUT Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Dumb question but don't Dunhill Christmas pipes come ina case that looks like a book? The ones I've seen (have a friend who has 10 of them) were all in books imprinted, in his case, with the lines from the 12 days of Christmas. 1998 thru 2010 I believe.
Jimmy2 Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 I do know this pipe is mid to late 70 's or very early 80' s that's what I was told sometime ago ..
fingerburner Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 My estimate based on having purchased several dunhill pipes from the mid-late 70's would be around the $350-500USD mark.
Jimmy2 Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Had a reply from the pic's I sent .. They told me it's a item they have not seen ! There are sending pics out to the evaluators to get a ball park idea ! Like I said the ones I seen with the gold band ( which I am almost sure it's real gold ) fetch over 1,000 . Fingers crossed ..
