dicko Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I'm going to the Friday night in Perth looking forward to it!
Ken Gargett Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 i've got the second gig in adelaide, the first night in the hunter and then the only night in brizzy. usually he does a few in brizzy but not this time.
Ken Gargett Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 I'm going Friday and Saturday in Perth. Taking the kids to the Sat one which will be interesting I figure they need to know what real live sweaty rock'n roll is all about before it's too late. Sent from my Xperia Z1 you do realise, of course, that you'll spoil them. they'll never be able to find a concert as god again, for the rest of their lives.
Ken Gargett Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 for those interested, you can see how different each concert is. the set list to the first south african concert is above. here are the 2nd and 3rd. a few overlaps but quite extraordinary for the one musician to have such different sets on the same tour. 28th jan Nelson Mandela (The Special A.K.A. cover) No Surrender (Tour premiere, Sign request) Two Hearts (Tour premiere, Sign request) The Ties That Bind (Tour premiere, Sign request) High Hopes (The Havalinas cover) Trapped (Jimmy Cliff cover) (Tour premiere) Prove It All Night (w/ '78 Intro, Tour premiere & Sign request) Darkness on the Edge of Town (Tour premiere) Spirit in the Night Heaven's Wall Just Like Fire Would (The Saints cover) (Tour premiere) American Skin (41 Shots) The Promised Land (Tour premiere) Open All Night (Tour premiere) Shackled and Drawn Waitin' on a Sunny Day Lonesome Day (Tour premiere) The Rising Badlands Encore: We Shall Overcome (Pete Seeger cover) (dedicated to Pete Seeger) Born in the U.S.A. OZCUBAN Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I prefer the 29th set list ,although it's always hard so many great songs ,you Ken have the advantage of going to more than one concert, that's always going to be a good thing Cheers

'my hometown' - one of my least fave bruce songs. i'd have felt ripped off.
OZCUBAN Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Just rediscovering Springsteen , Always liked his music ,but in the day just never got on board as a fan. Better late than never , steep learning curve at the beginning, there's a lot of years to catch up on. With age comes wisdom or so they say (LOL). So Musically he should be at his best ,it seems for some wether you get one of the really good concert sets Don't know if I will ever get to see him again ,and the fact he is doing shows in Perth is amazing. (a lot of acts give Perth a miss on some tours I guess it's the Isolation from the rest of OZ So I am grabbing this with both hands and really looking forward to it. Never heard of a bad Springsteen Concert ,not many can say that So Ken thanks for igniting my interest (to many cigar vids lol) Cheers

OZCUBAN Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Thanks mate it's been a slow train coming ,but what a back catalogue ... And how good is Tom Morello
Ken Gargett Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Thanks mate it's been a slow train coming ,but what a back catalogue ... And how good is Tom Morello i was disappointed van zandt could not make last year's aussie tour but morello was brilliant an has been a shot in the arm to the band. great to see him back. 1
SteveGriff Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I hope you've booked seats and not standing Ken.... I dont know how you'd be able to stand for three hours straight....
SteveGriff Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Gotta give it to Springsteen. Both his new albums and current tours are outstanding. Definitely outshining both Bob Dylan (who's still producing good/great albums but live not at Bruce heights) and Neil Young (recent output sketchy, but still puts on great shows)
Ken Gargett Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 I hope you've booked seats and not standing Ken.... I dont know how you'd be able to stand for three hours straight.... my experience is that while one might have seats, one only lasts in them for about a minute.
Duxnutz Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 my experience is that while one might have seats, one only lasts in them for about a minute. That's great to see. Recent concerts we've been to people have sat through the entire concert. Such a different vibe compared to what I'm used to. Headed to Blues Fest in April and the Mrs has us following Dave Matthews round the country. If you've never heard of him he puts on a great show.

Maxismoke Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Any concert with Jungleland and Thunder Road is a good show.

OZCUBAN Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Only the the ones that don't Pose a threat it would be like being eaten by a guppy lol The big whites are no where to be seen
OZCUBAN Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Just got back from Bruce's first Perth Gig,and WOW cannot find the words to say ,don't know if there are any words that can describe the show ,it was just awesome ,my first Springsteen concert. my only regret is that I had not seen any shows earlier . the guy is the consummate showman. The Energy that was evident at the show was truly remarkable.both from bruce and the crowd, the set was great, a few songs that i would have liked to have heard but thats the way it is I imagine ,but by the same token there was a few gems i wasn't expecting ,like a medley featuring Roy Orbisons pretty woman and Johnny O"Keefe's Shout ,plus a couple of unplugged acoustic thunder road and For you, with Bruce on the piano with the stage to him self summing up best concert ever for me at least cheers P.S where did you get the sign Magnus ?
