superconductor71 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Hello All..... Noob to FOH, and finally getting back into the hobby! I started out when I was towards the end of college (early to mid '90's) and truly enjoyed it. Made a ton of good friends at my local shop, and it literally became my "watering hole" so to speak. I remember a time when OpusX boxes had a slide top lid and the cigar had a fantastic reputation on taste alone. Somewhere along the line marriage and kids happened and I think the disposable income went out the door and I gave up the hobby. Just recently my wife encouraged me to get back into it again and I cannot believe that i've been away for as long as I have been. (10 years) Now i'm 42, kids are a bit older and a few extra pennies saved away and I truly am enjoying being back. I've found a great local "watering hole" (aka cigar shop) to hang my hat and it's been great. I'll share one experience that explains it all and why i'm glad i'm back: I stopped off to the local shop after a particularly hard day at work....I was definitely a bit quiet, tired and not in the best of moods. I sat down, lit up a OpusX Perfexion No. 2 (christmas gift) and just sat back and relaxed. The owner comes up to me and says something along the lines of "Mr. Drew....you seem quiet....everybody's been coming in here today having tough days. Seems to be a theme!". I responded with a "yup...LONG day", and he says "well come over and join us". Before I realized it, I was there for over 2 hours and having a great time. The owner pats me on the back as I am leaving and says "See? Back to your old self...." Very true.....and I think that in itself shows me how long i've been away and what I have been missing. Anyway, that's my introduction....glad to be back ~Drew
