Joker Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Smoked the Punch Serie D'Oro No2 LE 2013 from the Christmas Sampler the other day, and really enjoyed the sweet nut / mild spice flavours. I have not tried many cigars from this marca, and was wondering if the Serie D'Oro No2 LE 2013 flavour profile is typical of the limited standard Punch range. I know that Punch has it loyal followers (OzCuban) and would appreciate any comments. Many thanks in advance. Joker
CaptainQuintero Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Usually sweet woods and berry fruits but punch gets hardly any love nowadays so the flavour profile can now vary to hot mud or exhaust fumes :s
Larsy Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 so the flavour profile can now vary to hot mud or exhaust fumes :s Sounds divine! Better get me some
Lant63 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I have some young Punch Punch Tubos that taste like peanut butter!!
Habana Mike Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Yeah, Punch doesn't get much love lately because they only produce 5 vitolas anymore, excluding the LE/RE program of course..... Punch Punch I've had lately were lackluster though I've hear the recent ones can be on. Missing me some of the old Corona Gordas, BP, RS #11 and SS #2... Glad I've still got mostly full cabs of SS #1 and RS #11 in the house. Monarcas, BP and SS #2 down to a small handful and closely rationed.
PapaDisco Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Grabbed a random box of Punch Punch tubos (the corona gorda) in Hong Kong a few months ago. Turned out to be from '09 and every stick looked like a work of art! And the sweet scent was so strong it was almost as if the cigars had been dipped in honey. A friend and I burned through the box without letting it sit more than a couple of days off the plane and every stick was exquisite, with just one with a tight draw. I quickly ordered 25 boxed, and 20 tubos of the Punch Punch, both of which arrived recently but alas are not '09's but '10's (I know, I know . . . picky ), and while the new smokes have that same, sweet Punch scent they were slightly rougher in construction; still nice mind you, but not the Michelangelo art I got in that first box. On my next trip through HKG Duty Free I plan to pick up any remaining boxes of '09 they have, despite the fact that they cost double the price of my recently received '10's.
