I love the holiday season. Here it starts with our Thanksgiving. Followed by Christmas and then my birthday/New Year's Eve!

Tis the most wonderful time of the year! A time to reflect on what we are thankful for. Enjoy friends and family. Cold weather here.

Not to mention Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and other original classic Christmas shows like Miracle on 34th Street, etc. !

Used to hate it but since I got married I've had to do the family Christmas thing with my in-laws. As an only child my Christmas' have always been small affairs but hanging out with her family (which against all Godly logic are pretty cool people) has been great. On the gifting tip I'm trying to show my appreciation by making family calendar for them here, using the previous years photos and handing them out as party favours. It's corny and only some of them will appreciate it but the wife loves the idea and its cheap so I'm happy too.

Love it. Any holiday that gives me the excuse to cook a feast for my friends and family is great in my book. Also love watching the joy and excitement in the children. As for the adults we have a rule that there is no gift giving unless you made it yourself.

Most folks here seem to love Xmas as i see lots of folks planning on frequent family get togethers, great feasts, drinks and cigars. Overindulgence. These things cost money. And why not, most Members of this forum have excess money to spend on luxuries like cigar collections and high end spirits. Others are not so fortunate.

For many people around the world, Christmas is a time of sorrow. They don't have the extra money to buy presents for their children, family, and friends. Many are saddened at Christmas time when they think of their loved ones who will not be able to come home for various reasons. Turkey dinners may be only a wish and not a reality for some.

I just hope through all the office parties, dinners and overindulgence we all can remember what the real meaning of Christmas really is. For Christians, Christmas is when we should remember to celebrate the birth of Christ and not lose sight of this meaning through all the greedy retail commercialization and consumerism.

It truly has turned into a Holiday all about greed for the big companies to rake in boatloads of cash right before the end of the year. Watching shoppers getting into fights and people behaving badly all in the name of obtaining a cheap big screen tv or an electronic device really is sad. It just makes me shake my head in disbelief. I love Christmas for my 7 year old daughter and to see her eyes light up opening gifts, but besides that reason I cannot wait for it to be over with and have things back to "normal".
