Livo Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 So a package arrived today after more than six months, a box and three singles. The three singles were packaged together in a zip lock bag. One of singles has a good bit of mold on it. My question is should I be concerned that there is mold in the other two singles? They look ok on the surface, but I'm leaning toward tossing them - thinking it's just two singles why worry too much about it.
Paul3 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Have these been in transit for six months? If so I might be concerned about the environment....six months in poor humi/temp conditions may have taken a toll. I've always been told if the mold can simply be brushed off the wrapper you're good to go. If it appears mold has made its way into the filler best to toss them. Out of curiosity how do the boxed cigars look?
rckymtn22 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Post up a picture or two and you should get a good answer.
Livo Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Actually the boxed cigars look pretty good. The amount of time in transit is a concern, but I wouldn't think it a safety issue like the mold.

Post a pic indeed. if white mold wipe off. if the other two are not affected then I don't foresee a problem. if green/blue mold then that is another issue again.
jimbo1 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 if its just a white mold on the wrapper that can be easily wiped off your good to go, if its blue or green or in the foot toss em....best of luck
Livo Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Thanks for the replys. Here are some pics.
El Presidente Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Wipe the mold, rest them for 30-60 days in your humidor , enjoy
rckymtn22 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Looks pretty minor to me, just like the Prez said wipe down.
Livo Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Sounds reasonable to me - thanks for the feedback!
rfenst Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 when i get cigars with mold like this I simply drop the RH and temperature for storage. thereafter, I segregate them in a ziplock bag and simply put them in my humi. The only times I have seen mold on/in the foot is in neglected commercial humidors at irresponsible b&m's.
