Hash Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Hello Guys, I was wondering if any of you guys is experiencing what I am experiencing with my Limited edition cigar bands. I have a box of the Cohiba Sublimes and the cigars have been sitting in my humidor for some years, the writing on the band ( ink) are all getting sort of stained ,blurred or smirched. Is this usual?. I have no reason to suspect the genuineness of the cigars as I bought them from a credible source.
LordAnubis Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Yeah ive had this on my Mag 48 bands (both the upmann band and the LE band). Heres a thread with my bands.. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114764&hl=
Rye Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 It is the metals in the ink starting to rust, I was led to believe. Still harmless and adds a little "charm" in my opinion.
maverickdrinker Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 That's my understanding as well Rye. The band is oxidizing. Shouldn't be an issue with the cigars.
Blakes Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 That sounds very likely, It's like the gold used on old 50's Les Paul guitars, the gold uses copper powder to achieve the metallic colour and as it gets exposed starts to oxidize and turn green.
