I've long been a fan of Italian Barberas, and have been drinking even more of them than is usual for me over the past few months / half year or so.

I guess some of what I love is the brightness / acidity combined with the somewhat tannic finish, all wrapped around a cherry-ish core.

When unoaked, I find they show pure character. When they spend a little time in wood, they can take on grandeur biggrin.png

There are many great producers - a few that come to mind off the top of my head: Oddero, Giuseppe Stella, Rinaldi...... there are many more.

Love to hear if members also enjoy.......

Absolutely, great wines. My wife doesnt drink much, but if so she wants Italian wine. So wine is mostly a north Italian affair around here - beside the port for my cigars

I tend to go more with the Barolo's and Brunello's but love good Italian wines in general.

I like Italian wines but I love even more French wines, Languedoc or Roussillon and or even more Burgundy wines like a good Coté Roti. It's just a matter of taste .Nothing more Ross, but I do like a good Chianti Rerseva, like the

ones I had in Florence the last time. party.gif

Barbera is probably my favorite Italian varietal. I'm a big fan of Vicara from Italy and Giornata from California. The Vicara is a great everyday version that is easy on the wallet. The Giornata is more expensive and surprising given how I had never had a good American Barberas before.
