David67 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Anyone out there remember the old Partagas Toppers? This was my go to cigar back in the 90's when I had little money, they weren't too bad, for what they were. I seem to feel that some other Havana brands made this panatela, am I right? Anyway do you remember them?
bolivr Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Sure do. I still have 4 of them from LOC Nov00. I didn't think anyone else knew about these lol. I like them, good robust and interesting flavors but I have had the odd one that honestly just tasted like dirt gotta love them for that.
Smallclub Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 There was a RA Toppers as well – never saw it. The Partagas can still be found in Andorra.
laficion Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I remmber them alright, they were good everyday cigars, The tins were better then the boxes .They were, at the time, very strong cigars and I liked them. OH well !!!!!
Smallclub Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Funnily enough I was looking at a 50 box of these yesterday from 1986 ( I THINK ).. I don't believe the Toppers ever came in any sort of packaging of 50… or maybe a "display" of 10 petacas (carboard packs) of 5 cigars?
CanuckSARTech Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I still have a couple single sticks left, I think, some from trades.
Nino Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Have some 11 yr old Toppers right here, along with similar aged Astorias, Charlottes, Pt. Cor. Especiales, Sel. Privada, Lonsdales, et al. And the funny, nice and generous reason is ... they are all going back to Havana with me the coming month, courtesy of my friend Frank "Afficionado" for a good Cuban friend of ours to smoke some aged sticks there. Payback for some incredible aged boxes we received earlier this year.
