Jringe1109 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 quick question, does anybody know, or can you explain to me the difference between the Romeo Y Julieta Mille Fleurs and the Petit Corona? according to the information on both they are both the same size. is one short filler or machine bunched? different blends ect.. i've had the petit corona and liked it as a quick smoke while driving at work, but the mille fleurs is about 2$ cheaper per stick. thanks for any help on the topic.
Smallclub Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 The Mille Fleur is a cheaper offering. It was a cheap (and rather poor) machine made until 2002, that's why its vitola de galera (factory name) is "petit corona" and not "mareva". The petit corona (commercial name) is supposed to be more refined, and in my experience it taste much "cleaner" than the MF. There is an other mareva in the RyJ line : the Cedros de Luxe No.3, and an other petit coronas (formerly machine made): the Romeo No.2 A/T. All different blends, different cigars. The Mille Fleur was the 2nd best selling habanos in France in 2012. Btw, ALL habanos are hand made nowadays — machine made are history, and there are only 5 or 6 short filler cigars (PL panatela, RG panatela extra, Fonseca Delicias, all the Quinteros)
hiball99 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I thought the mille fleurs were machine bunched and hand finished.
Smallclub Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I thought the mille fleurs were machine bunched and hand finished. A common error. They were MM until 2002, like many cigars of the RyJ and Partagas lines.
Jringe1109 Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 thanks for the info smallclub. do you prefer the mille fleurs over the petit corona?
Smallclub Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 do you prefer the mille fleurs over the petit corona? When these two cigars are young, I fail to taste the supposed difference in quality, I find the 1000F more expressive, for half the price of the PC (in France).
CanuckSARTech Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 When these two cigars are young, I fail to taste the supposed difference in quality... Agreed!!! And thus why I picked the Milles Fleurs over the Petit Corona in last years blind taste competition!!!! LOL.
Trevor2118 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I thought the mille fleurs were machine bunched and hand finished. You better be introduced to my website http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/info-production.htm#Hand_Rolled_Cigars
liuzzi Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I have smoked few of each and I preferred the Mille Fleurs taste wise as well.
Jringe1109 Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Thanks guys im going to order a box of the mille fleurs. I had the petit and liked it as a quick smoke. So it sounds like i cant go wrong with the mille. Off topic, but i just ordered a box of le hoyo du prince. Has anyone here tried them? Are they similar to the des dieux? I read robs review from 2008 where he praised them pretty highly. Any thoughts? 1
CaptainQuintero Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 They're certainly similar in terms of part of the 'le hoyo' sub section of HDM; a lot more woody when young and they come out fighting a lot more than the traditional softer and creamy side of say the Epicures. If you like the Des Dieux then you should really enjoy them!
Jringe1109 Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Are they decent with little age? Lets say 2011 box code? I guess ill just have to wait and see. But it seems there VERY LITTLE information on the web about the du prince. Seems the des diuex gets most of the attention from the line. The couple of des diuex's that ive had i enjoyed very much.
dangolf18 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Not a fan of either. Partagas Mille Fleur are miles better.
