I'm curious what others think about these. Today, I had my first one in 2 or 3 years and was really pleasantly surprised. Medium bodied. First third was wood/cream/cherry, some chocolate began to creep in about halfway through. Second third was cherry/cream/chocolate, with some coffee undertones and a really nice sweetness. Final third was nuts and cream. Easily a 93-94 point cigar. These had been a huge disappointment until now. When they were young, they had that generic chocolate/coffee EL profile, then they were just bad sour wood after that. I'm really shocked at the turnaround.

Hope to have one tonight....

These are excellent cigars, and as you said, they are in the midst of a remarkable transformation! Wish I had gone deep instead of a single box! Enjoy!

I've really enjoyed the couple I've had from my box but I never had a chance to try one fresh so I only know them with 5+ years of age.

One of my favorite cigars at the moment.

Anyone have any thoughts on how they will smoke over the next few years? Thinking of getting another box.

Behind the 2010 Duke, by far my favorite RJ. My Box code is OEB Feb 07. Strength profile just below a cazzy, standard cherry woody RJ flavor profile. Love the vitola, these have really benefited from 5-6 years rest and I hope another few years will make it a classic. Nice to see something decent come out of RJ once in a while.

RyJ needs another EL. Been too long. Regular line is not my favorite, but the ELs have been tasty (the few I have had)

RyJ does provide a few pleasant surprises in it's regular line ...... I am working through a box of 06 Ex. No. 3 that are nothing short of outstanding! One of my top five cigars of 2012!

I must try one of these. So far for me the RyJ Hermoso #2 2004 EL has been not just my favorite Romeo EL but one of my favorite EL's of all the EL releases of any brand.

I agree. I have the same year and they are excellent. I have an older box of coronas that are fantastic as well. They make some gems.

The Cazadoers are very good regular production cigars with a couple of years on them.

Agree on the hermoso, really one of the few great RyJ. But the best EL they made was the short pyramid 05. They were so tasty, I nearly cried when I smoked my last one.

I've smoked through my last RyJ Robusto EL from 2001 a couple of months ago. They really became great cigars. How do the Escudos or Dukes compare to them?

The Escudos are even better in my opinion. Didn't try any of the dukes lately.
