Ken has the wool over Rob this week with a blind tasting. Another fantastic cigar and guess who is not included?

smithy, we need a word!

first, you are, of course, always invited to any event at my place. standing and open invite - just give me warning so i can find those fake cuaba's.

next, what happened to not giving the smoke away? first scene, there it is. nice one, hitchcock!

and we gave you gold!

the t-shirt, before i was edited, was the front page of the washington post the morning after they beat the bills to win the superbowl way back. and i can still fit in???

the t-shirt......and i can still fit in???

I guess that means you haven't shrunk it in the dryer?

Nice review guys - I would not have thought Partagas from either description.

Ken a few words;

  1. Thank you for the invite and the fake Cuabas.
  2. This wasn't a review for people to see if they could pick the cigar, it was a blind review for Rob. As you lot only mentioned about four flavours till you tell him what cigar it was what chance does the average punter at home have of picking it.
  3. I thought I showed the most important part about the shirt, that you still fitted in it. Learn this Ken, everybody knows you love the Redskins and the Boss, you have told us every week I don't think the world needs to be reminded of these two facts. You should be pleased that I left a bit of it in there as I feel from now on any reference to the Boss or the Redskins will hit the edit room floor.

dear grumpy bum, they'll be bloody short reviews!

You don't talk about the cigars anymore. Talk cigars and you will get a full review, stop talking about your stupid Redskins or the Boss and more about the cigars and guess what... Or you can edit the reviews yourself if you want a different creative output.

Agreed Smithy lets get back to the cigars, although I do love the banter. I'll watch because either way its entertaining and educational to some extent on any number of the random topics brought up.

Now that would be one hell of a review. I vote Ken edits the next one.

Maybe we can stop calling them reviews

"2 guys having a chat, special guest: PSD4" could be a more accurate description ;-)

Great work on the vid Smithy

Rob/Ken, always entertaining to watch you guys banter

Rob, you have tried the D4 Reserva. A couple of years ago when you came to Melbourne and a group of us gathered at Siglo bar, we both smoked one. Although, I think the individual sticks had maybe lost a bit of complexity in my humidor compared to one you smoked on the video with Ken. I had smoked one a few years earlier with a good mate at his wedding in Noosa and it had all the flavours that you and Ken described on the video. That was one of the best cigars I have had the pleasure to smoke. Too bad the one that I offered up to you didn't quite live up to expectations but we had already smoked a stronger cigar beforehand and lots of liquor was being consumed. Anyway, the cigar I smoked with my mate prompted me to write this review which is a bit of fun. I used to hand out a list of cigars with reviews to mates so they could select their cigar for special occasions.

Partagas Serie D4 2000 Reserva ****4/5

Style – Robusto. Time – 1 hour 15mins. Just a mere glimpse of this ebony goddess and you’re in cigar heaven. It seems almost wrong to set this cigar alight. Dark, smooth with an oily sheen and a cold aroma of roasted coffee beans, chocolate and spicy cedar. She is full-bodied yet smooth Lindt chocolate throughout as you fall into a smoldering trance. Enveloped in her scent, you realise you’re experiencing something very few people have before – Nirvana. The aftertaste stays with you into the night and onto the next morning - like making love with the woman of your dreams only to awake to her heartbeat sleeping restfully on your chest. The memory will last forever. But beware, if you fall into this mesmerizing voodoo trance, for there can be no going back and no going forward. Just the time in between until you meet again where every moment burnt is a moment lost but a moment gained. And it is all but a memory. At least you will have lived. Not available.

I think Rob can be forgiven for not remembering. There was a lot of drinking over a long night and a lot of cigars smoked.

Nice review as usual. 1 band? Isn't there a Reserva band, making it 2 bands?

not sure about other reserva's but the partagas D4 reserva came with only one band. a little black and silver thing. at least that is what mine had.

HUGE APOLOGIES!! you are completely correct.

i took the two sticks out of the box a while back and put them aside for when rob came around for a vid. i took the bands off as a blind tasting but only kept the silver/black one to show rob. and completely forgot the other.

i would have sworn... so much so that when i just saw your picture i thought, wow, the ones from cuba must be different because i was certain only one band.

so, ran and checked the box - yes rob, no point searching through my stuff at your locker, they are here at home - and to my amazement and embarrassment, i am totally wrong.

apols.

I misunderstood the title of this thread.... I interpreted to mean Rob turned up drunk.

Oh wait, maybe he did :D
