to watch the Lions v Barbarians match this weekend. I have Sunday night free and I'm looking for suggestions for a great venue to get a cigar and a drink.

I know there are a couple of spots I could try but perhaps "those in the know" would suggest something.

Cheers

I asked a mate that lives in HK and he has the occasional cigar and scotch. He reakons two options you can try are

1. Lan Kwai Fong Hotel in Lan Kwai Fong - small and cosy

2. Sheraton Hotel (apparently there is only one) has a cigar lounge in the lobby

Guess if they are near you and convenient then try them out and let us know.

Enjoy your weekend.

head to Saava at the Princess building if the weather is good http://www.sevva.hk/

Then head to The Pawn http://www.thepawn.com.hk/ (5 minutes from Sevva). They have a humidor there with some excellent aged cigars at reasonable prices. Take a seat on the balcony.

You can then head into Wan Chai main street and catch up with the Lions tourists and have a night that you will not remember ....the best kind lol3.gif

Thanks Chaps

Certainly have a few spots to pick from and very close to my hotel.

I have three days and two nights of "rugby supporting" to survive before I get there though.

All the barbarians were at Happy Valley last night dominating the buffet in the HK Jockey club. I hope they travel with Imodium.

Having worked in the American horse racing industry for several years this is truly a specular event to take in and nothing compared to the american system. We took our own sticks and ate and smoked outside in the upper terrace when I was there last fall. Home of the tight turns IIRC.

Captains Bar at the Mandarin Oriental is your best choice for a sophisticated drink.

It is one of the last places there where you can smoke indoors. Order a large draft beer and it comes in a chilled pewter mug. very classy place.

Assuming you'll be on the HK Island side there are lots of choices, but the only problem might be that some are closed on Sunday evenings:

In Central you have:

Indoor then Red Chamber as someone said is very good and great selection of cigars, but they are closed on Sundays

Sevva at Prince's Building is very nice, but closed on Sunday.

Armani-Prive http://armaniprive-hk.com/

La Terrazza - large outdoor patio attached to Lupa restaurant http://www.diningconcepts.com.hk/lupa/

Lan Kwai Fong & Wyndham Road - you can drink & smoke outside of the bars without issue

In Wan Chai & Causeway Bay:

The Pawn as suggested above in Wan Chai

Grand Hyatt Waterall bar - an oasis for HK http://hongkong.grand.hyatt.com/en/hotel/dining/TheWaterfallBar.html

Wooloolomoo - Aussie steakhouse bar with large patio in Wan Chai http://www.wooloo-mooloo.com/steakhouse/wan-chai/gallery.aspx

Hooray Bar - huge patio in World Trade Centre in Causeway bay http://www.nextstophongkong.com/hooray-bar-and-restaurant-hong-kong-bars/

Totts - on top of the Excelsior hotel in Causeway Bay

Lockhart Road in Wan Chai - lots of bars that you can smoke in front of and watch the action take place along the street
