I was in my fav local today, and he had just brought in a couple beauty boxes.

But when I flipped the box over, there was 2 date stamps. The original, and another with the word "revisado" and another date from 3 years later.

We're these likely uncapped and draw tested after the '06 QC upgrades at HSA? I'm quite curious if anyone has more insight. (Oh and yes I bought singles, as this LE has eluded me for some time.)

The cigars look, smell, and feel amazing and everything looks right everywhere else.

Hmmm I have no idea rye, hopefully Rob can shed some light on it!

The dates do coincide with the improved quality controls and draw tests, but I'm curious as to what exactly goes on. If you look really hard, the last cap layer almost has a ever so slight grain difference, but I've seen all sorts of stuff glued to the ends and called caps before!

happened to be sorting mine recently and must say that yours look very much like mine, without the second stamp. trevor may be able to assist. to me, they look good.

except for the price tag! holy crap. if that is what they are going for then i may have to forego the pleasure. my tag says US$546.25 but that was way back when released in cuba.

This is the Canadian retail price Ken. Still cheaper per cigar than the '66 by almost $15/cigar!

Revisado means that the box - after a few years on the shelves - has been inspected by quality control again

to make sure there was no problem with the box to begin with

(in other words, why would a perfectly good box of Cohuba NOT sell? jester.gif )

and secondly to make sure the cigars have not suffered from bad storage conditions during that period of time.

Cheers, Alex

Is the Edicion limitada band embossed? It's hard to tell in the photo.

The GKI NOV 04 is a known Sublimes code.

Not intending to dissuade or concern you - however, Cohiba Sublimes are one of the most popularly faked 'gars out there.

for what it is worth, my codes are all GKI Oct 04.

Do watch out for fakes with these. Very surprising to see full boxes of these suddenly come on shelves, anywhere.

$1,500 for a box of these, while a lot of money, isn't bad at all for these.

I saw them 2 years ago for £140 each on a shelf in London.

This price is very reasonable, and had my concerns, but everything looks and smells SO good. I'm told large suppliers (eg;Havana House, PCC etc) often stockpile things to be released later, and the revisado stamp makes me think that someone was holding a few boxes in Cuba for a person that never showed to claim or the like. I was curious if anyone heard of the draw test being done to an already rolled cigar.

Correct,

not necessarily for " a person that never showed up " but generally in stock as some are vintages are known for quality problems and go through a second inspection ( as for draw tests, I wouldn't know ).

What you also get is a "Controlado" stamp, same as "Revisado".

We saw and bought some boxes of '01 Cohiba Lanceros recently that carried a "Controlado" '05 stamp from a reputable LCDH here at very goood prices ...

Just to chime in, Revisado is no guarantee of a good box. One of my 2001 boxes, Revisado in 2004, is still entirely tent pegs.

Blimey. Who buys at those prices?

People who wear cuff links, during daytime.

The irony is, 200 yards away was another shop selling an opened cab of Ramon Allones Coronas at £7 each. That's seven.

Hard to do on a not yet rolled cigar ;-)

No. Only seen them done on cigars from within the molds - filler and binder on them, in the molds for compressing, and then out for drawtesting. If passed, then they go to have the wrappers applied.

Thanks! Wasn't sure if they pulled caps off of them as part of the revisado process or not.

I REALLY need to get to that island soon!

Yep, exactly as Keith says.

I took these pics in November last year at El Laguito. The one and only, Berta, in the first pic.
