kuma Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Heading to the south of France in May and would like any input about the cigar landscape in that area of France.
canadianbeaver Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Sounds like an incredible trip! Matthew spent a couple of days in Monaco on a business trip and he said it was just like being in a James Bond movie. The Grand Prix was even getting under way. Bon Voyage!
kuma Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Yes the race will be going on in Monaco and also not far from there Cannes will be having the film fest showing. But what I really need to know is concerning the smokes shops there, has any members bought smokes in any of thoses places. I guess I'll google and see what comes, thanks CB.
mazolaman Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Hey mate, the only place I found cigars around there was on the endless, beautiful beachfront of Nice..there is a tobacconist along the strip. Les Pergolas 19, promenade des Anglais 06000 Nice A small selection of Cubans. Otherwise, on La Croisette, there is The Havana room..if you can afford it! Also the same in Monaco, didn't see any ther, but if you do,they will be very expensive. Enjoy your trip!
Lotusguy Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Whatever you do - DON'T BUY FROM THE DAVIDOFF STORE IN MONACO. I had to pick through box after box of moldy, overhumidified cigars to pick up a few decent looking sticks last year and almost all of them ended tasting weird or bad, even the vaunted 1998 Fundadores. Probably one of the worst tobacco shops I've ever visited.
kuma Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Thanks everyone for the info. Looks like I will stick to France and maybe venture over the border to Italy and see if I can pickup a box of La Escepcion Selectos finos. If that fails then I'll stick to Q'D's and RE's of either country. I'm about 1 mile (Menton) from Italy maybe the cigars gods will be kind to me and I'll run into a decent store vendor. I think prices in France and Italy are regulated by the goverments of each country as in Spain.
OZCUBAN Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Sorry I cannot help you Strider (good name by the way) good luck on your quest
