Diamondog Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Pics below are of a 000 Orchestra model I made. Top is Sitka Spruce, sides and back are Sapele. Ebony fingerboard and headstock with mother of pearl inlay (my initials - that's all I wanted to do for the first effort). Sorry about the crappy photos - not a good camera phone back then Impressive
La Suerte Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Hey Gary, got any pictures of your Blueberry, I'd like to compare it with the '08 you've pictured...
Reevzy Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 Hey Gary, got any pictures of your Blueberry, I'd like to compare it with the '08 you've pictured... For you Dectective, I will. I've got some photos of "my actual" one but they are not the best quality, that's why I used the ebay photos. But they are practically identical, they certainly do an amazing job with these guitars.
Diamondog Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 They are beautiful guitars looking anyways, must be played. I like you can test drive one in your own home for a few days for a few bucks and if you buy credited toward the guitar
Reevzy Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 Can't wait.... Inspector Morse..... To be honest, I really like the "split" in the back on the original but as for the carvings, comparing the two is almost like a mirror image front back and sides
bassman Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 By the way, if anyone is passing through Philadelphia, I host a jam every Wednesday & Sunday at my house. After 30 years playing in bars, house jams are much more fun. Smoking allowed.

So ta for that...very informative.....
Diamondog Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Was in playing a Taylor Koa custom GS today, stunning guitar, then came across this one Taylor K26ce anyone have any feedback on it?
Reevzy Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 That Taylor looks great! Love the look of Koa, don't know how it sounds but Taylor have always done really nice looking Koa, some companies somehow overdo it. I really like that vine on the fretboard. Not cheap though! Retails for nearly $5400, and I can assume that's in US dollars looking at the website
Erm310mce Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Was in playing a Taylor Koa custom GS today, stunning guitar, then came across this one Taylor K26ce anyone have any feedback on it? I like Taylor guitars a lot, I have one. Koa tops make some of the most beautiful looking guitars I've ever seen. I also like their concert sized guitars. How did you like the sound of the Koa top you played? Koa soundboards have a great fundamental tone and are very strong in the mid range. Very different from spruce or cedar. If you liked it, go for it, it really depends on what style you play and what tone you are looking for. Taylor customer service is second to none, great company. If you have interest and have not yet, a suggestion would be to experience some smaller builders like Lowden, Goodall, Collings, Santa Cruz. They may be a little more money but its a different world when you get into the boutique builders. Enjoy, let us know what you decide. Cheers!
La Suerte Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I can't recall ever seeing a bad word written about Taylor guitars & the Koa on that one is really nice...

As much as i love Taylors, I would at least look into smaller custom builders, you can have an amazing custom guitar built for that money and have some cash left over for a few boxes of smokes! But, if you fall in love with the Taylor, then you have your decision. Good luck!
Reevzy Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Just reviving this thread with some more pictures of my Blueberry grand concert guitar. Love it. Feel free to take more shots of your axes or even put up some youtube clips in here
Reevzy Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Here's a short clip of me playing my PRS custom. I clipped a webcam to my beanie for a first person view, I guess you could call it beanie cam. A word of caution, this isn't Huey Lewis and the news or anything along those lines, it's a short clip of a song called Blackwater Park by my favourite band, Opeth from Sweden........ it's metal.
Andrew11 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Reevzy awesome grand concert, love it!!! The Family Pic Ibanez Apex1 7 string Jackson Soloist Custom ESP Horizon NT7 7 string 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom

IcedCanuck Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Reevzy awesome grand concert, love it!!! The Family Pic Ibanez Apex1 7 string Jackson Soloist Custom ESP Horizon NT7 7 string 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom Nice looking axes and is that a custom paint job on the Jackson? I didn't even know ESP made 7-strings. Do you prefer the Ibanez or the ESP 7 string?

Do you prefer the Ibanez or the ESP 7 string? Stock paint on the Jackson, 1 of many graphics offered on the USA line. ESP makes many 7 strings, check out the website. ESP destroys the Ibanez in everyway IMO, but its personal taste and the ESP was built to my specs.

I played an ESP in a guitar shop a few years back and I liked the feel of it but the price turned me right off. I think it was an explorer with something that looked like sheet metal for a pickguard.
Andrew11 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Ya active EMG's, they are not cheap but great value IMO. Quality and specs on par with guitars double the price. Nice video BTW Love Amon Amarth!!
Orion21 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Been playing my Fender American Stratocaster for a couple of years. Sunburst with a maple neck. Stock everything. Maybe 30 years from now it will be worth $50k??? Yeah, right.
kyee Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 did I hear someone say koa guitars up above? That's my other passion. Here's one of mine from custom builder Kevin Ryan. All koa 12 string guitar, with his acoustic arm bevel. 1
