I booked my airfares for Sydney late Sunday. I know I should have been more organised but pop was ill last week and I wanted to leave it to the last minute.

The airfares were no problem in the end but the accomodation was.....my "go to" hotel..the Sydney Boulevard was fully booked. I hate that. We are all creatures of habit and I like to go where I am known and where I know the staff and the local winebars, the local coffee shop, where to get a quick taxi etal.

I looked on "Trip Advisor" and found a hotel 1km away (Quest Potts Point) from the Sydney Boulevard. Has a kitchenette, is 1/3 less in price. Booked it.

Arrived to find it is in the middle of Kings Cross. Now Kings Cross is a little like a downtrodden Bourbon St New Orleans. For anyone who knows me...it is not a good match but I am a changed man these days innocent.gif

I went first up upon arrival to the hotel bar and went to the roof top terrace for a Party Short. It was closed due to inclement weather. I looked outside and it was fine so I used my room card for access and blow me it worked. Holds 60 people, cigar friendly (I assumed), had my cigar, worked on e-mails and went downstairs to the bar where I met owner "Manny" who does the food for the hotel, runs the bar and the roof top ....apparently only Wednesday to Saturday.

"manny....love your roof top".

"it's closed"

"Actually I just had a cigar up there"

"How?"

"Ignored the sign and went on in"

"But you can't!"

"Just did....relax...no one died"

At this pont Manny was about to have a coronary.....

"Manny....."

"How do you know my name"

"...it's on your shirt..."

"Anyway Manny....I want to book your deck for our Sydney FOH function..and introduce our cell leaders in Sydney to use it for their regular events..."

" I knew I liked you from the minute you walked in"

.....and so with our Sydney events now organised I headed to the markets across the road only to be accosted by the local (this corner) transvestie.

"Hey bay...who the "F' wears a flash red collar shirt here, f you have spare coin, spend it on me"

Naturally I thought ken would like this place and passed on his number as he is a frequent traveller to Sydney.

Having stocked up on fresh food I went looking for a bottleshop. This really is an eclectic area. I can walk down any street in most major cities and have no one say boo. here I was apprached by a bloke with a rabbit on his shoulder, the Aboriginal freedom alliance, a chick with a pet rat and a number of hookers, preachers, dealers, psychotics, I eventually deided to go and see manny at the hotel.

Manny took care of my immediate liquor requirements and asked how I was enjoying the "Cross".

"All good mate" was my reply.

"You should have been here yesterday" Manny said. One of the local hookers was having a slow night and completed a "solo sex display" outside the bars from window.

......I must say I enjoy a place that is slightly outside of the norm rotfl.gif

Sounds a little different to my weekend Sydney experience.... I was there this past weekend and Monday and stayed at Circular Quay.... Though I did have the misses with me - and she pays the bills!

Sounds like a typical day in the Cross...

Btw, most Sydneysiders know that Potts Point is really Kings Cross. People were too embarrassed to say, "I live in Kings Cross". jester.gif

Sounds great. Rob do let us all know when you have the Sydney cell leaders and meetings. I'm in Bathurst but will do my best to come along.
