ImTripN2 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Everytime I look at my dwindling stash of Dip4s, I kick myself for not buying more when they were readily available. Anyway, an old and dear friend of mine is heading to Havana next month and I would love to get a couple of boxes. Does anyone know if they still available, and is there any of the LCDHs where he might have a better chance of finding them? TIA.
maverickdrinker Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 You would have to check each LCDH. Stock changes relatively quickly and discontinued cigars don't last that long on the shelves.

Thanks, so there is a chance they are still being restocked in the LCDHs? I know it will be a crap shoot finding some but still gotta try
maverickdrinker Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 There were some Diplomaticos here and there when we were in HAV in November. I think there were some at the Melia Cohiba. I can't remember which vitolas they were though... Good luck in your search.
gigabyte056 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Hi, Back in April of last year I went through around 7-8 LCDH stores. Only Dip to be had were the No.2, I still have two boxes I bought back in 2010. I asked a couple of the more friendly store operators, they told me that they are not likely to see those again. I wish you luck, maybe your luck is better than mine...
Ryan Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 The best shops I've seen in Havana for old or discontinued stock are Mons shop in Club Havana and the LCDH at 5 y 16 in Miramar. the place where Carlos Robaina hangs out. I've seen quite a bit of stock from '01 to '05 there over the years. I can't remember ever seeing Diplomatico No. 4 specifically though. In Habana Vieja there is a little cigar shop just to the northwest of the Cathedral, at the entrance of a courtyard of shops called the "Feria de la Artesania". You may find old stock there. Last february I found a couple of boxes of '02 La Gloria Cubana No. 4 in there.
Dara Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 5th y 16th had been cleaned out when I was there for the Partagas in November. They had NO Dipllomaticos as I was looking for a box of Dip 2s. I was very disappointed with the condition of stock in Club Habana in November, I found a lovely box of Dip 2s with 5 years on them so asked the assistant to open them and there was a spiderweb of mold across the cigars on the top row....very disappointing. I guess the place isn't being run as well since Mons retired. Apparently there is a store room behind the humidor that is like an alladins cave but I've never been in there so can't comment
MPS Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Thanks, so there is a chance they are still being restocked in the LCDHs? I know it will be a crap shoot finding some but still gotta try There is a good chance actually. It would be smart to call the LCDH's in advance. You would be amazed by the aged stock that trickles out of the warehouse and into the LCDH's. I have had the best luck at Melia Cohiba, Melia Havana and Club Havana.

Geo17pip Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Ah man, sucks they got rid of these. I only have like 3 sticks left and i wish I bought some #5's when they were around.
Guybrush Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I just visited all Casas del Habano in Havana. I wasn't too impressed with the storing conditions. I bought a cigar in the Casa del Habano Meliá Cohiba and it was almost unsmokeable wet. I returned a 2nd time just to find the other cigars in the same condition. When I entered the walk inn humidor the second time the hygrometer showed 90%. I don't know if this was accurate but the cigars also felt like stored at 90%. I asked the very friendly lady working there and she told me Havana is just too humid at the moment. The Casa in the Meliá Habana had similar problems in my opinion.
mkz Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Ah man, sucks they got rid of these. I only have like 3 sticks left and i wish I bought some #5's when they were around. Worst discontinuation ever IMO! Atleast I got two boxes left in my humi.
Pilgrims Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Agree it is an awful discontinuation and even more so when you consider that the size is great (IMHO) but there is no PC for Partagas or RA either...I simply don't get it...
