GammerSmokes Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Afternoon! First review on here but no pics unfortunately. Didn't want to draw attention at the local! The Hoyo PR is a fave regular production of mine, so I thought I would share my thoughts. Wrapper has a matt pale look, slightly green (SEP11) fairly young. Didn't take much off the cap and the draw was perfect. Only one touch up required. Construction, flawless. Pre-draw; nutty! Hints of chocolate too. Right, first third - started off very sweet, grassy taste. A certain creamy texture was present. Nuts came and went with a sharp aftertaste of what I could describe as esspresso. This carried on into the second third. Second third - the sweetness dissapears, replaced by the good ol' cuban twangyness, a roast caramel taste drifted in here and there, quite similar to the Hoyo du depute I had a while ago. The esspresso returned but lo behold I had to correct the burn! During this third, I had noticed it got a tad oily, which brought out the flavours in HD! Fantastic! Into the final third now and it starts to get a tad warm, but still oily. Roast coffee was the only detectable flavour but was so good I burnt my fingers! Overall, a fantastic half hour / 45 minutes of flavour and power. If you aint tried it, I highly recommend it! Enjoyed the smoke with an Adnams Southwold Bitter. Look out for it if you aint from the UK, it is an ace ale and pairs well with the Hoyo PR! Luke iExplore on my Tappytalk part duex
Tino Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Great review! I've just about polished off a box of SEP 11, I only have 2 left I think. Only managed to leave them alone for a month after they landed, but they've been consistently good throughout. If you can give them 40 minutes you can smoke them down to the nub without things getting hot. I took three to a wedding recently with the intention of sharing them around, but no one wanted to get involved so I ended up smoking them all over the course of the night
Deemancpa Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Great review! This is one I'd like to try.
GammerSmokes Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Cheers guys. I have one left and with the intention of buying a box! iExplore on my Tappytalk part duex
dB69 Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks for the review! Why not adding a tag of "CIGAR COMP NOV 2012" to your review and take part to the on going competition...
CaptainQuintero Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Nice! People have said the blend is almost identical to the epicure especial, I've never had the EE, have you any opinion on this?
