NMJoe Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Good day/evening, all. I'm looking for a table top torch that will be used exclusively around the house. It will be used for my daily smokes, as well as for when I have buddies over. I'd like to keep the price at or below a C-note, USD. Good fuel capacity is important, but probably higher on my list is reliability and longevity, and, of course, power and precision would be nice. I'd like something that will be around for the long haul; I don't want to replace this in the near future. If I need to go higher in price to realistically get what I want, please let me know that, and what you would recommend there, along with what I should expect to pay. Please let me know what you use and love, and what you wish you'd never purchased. Thanks very much, Joe
Fuzz AI Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I've got the Vector Tri Pump in gun metal grey. Nice table top lighter, but a bit over you budget at $100-$120. I've heard good things about the Vector Thundra which is within budget. Otherwise you can just get a cheap creme brulee torch. Those work perfectly fine, and they last for ages.

amosnaim Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Vector thundra. Just bought it recently and very happy with it. Not that costly too.Cheers
hdryder Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I use a Blazer ES-1000. It is a micro torch and not a table lighter so not pretty at all. I have had it for close to 3 years and still works flawlessly with a hugh fuel tank on it and also has the option to change the torch to a soft flame. I have used it for everything from lighting cigars to sodering wires to heating a frozen paddle lock. I think I only paid around $60 for it.
SMQQKIN Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I have had a number of table top lighters over the years and the Alec Bradley Table Top Burner is by far my favorite. It is great for indoors/outdoors and retails for around $60. It's not necessarily precise but is windproof, very reliable, puts out a large adjustable flame and has a huge butane tank.
fokker4me Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 By far the best table lighter i have seen and used was a ST Dupont table lighter. It is just going to set you back more than you want to spend. But if the cost was not a factor thats what I would buy. It is something you would hand down as an heirloom.
CaptainQuintero Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Creme Brulee Burner: $10 -Big accurate torch flame -Huge capacity -Wind proof -Can make creme brulees Spend the $90 you save on cigars.
Lotusguy Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Unbeatable value and performance is the Blazer GB4103. Under $55 on Amazon and has a strong wind proof flame and one fill of the tank lasts forever. Looks like lab equipment, though (because it IS lab equipment )
NMJoe Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 Thanks guys. I must admit, I'm intrigued by the creme brulee torch and the Blazer GB4103. I thought I wanted a sexy cigar lighter, but functionality and lower cost may prevail. ...and the savings can go toward more sticks. Cheers, Jose
Fuzz AI Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 If you go for the creme brulee torch, don't bother with the ones you have to refill. Just buy a head attachment for the butane can. No fussing with refilling, will fit most cans, and beats the fuel capacity of any refillable torch... unless you go for the ultimate table top lighter... Stick this on the table and it will be in easy reach of everyone!
