Ken Gargett Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 yes, it sounds like a bad joke. we do have a few deer in the area though you normally only see them at dawn or dusk. rarely in the middle of a sunny day. but today, we had one running back and forth just across the creek. lost or having fun or whatever. was running about 60 feet from the house in places. and it had one very large antler. the left one. no idea what happened to the right one. and no one shot it.
Fuzz AI Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Ken, when you start seeing unicorns, it is time to put the bottle down.
amosnaim Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 from now on, you should always hang out with a camera.
phidelt076 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I shot a nice mature buck a few years back with one antler. It's the largest bodied deer I've taken so far. I can confirm that steaks and summer sausage from a one antlered deer tastes just as good as it does from one with two antlers. I'll see if I can find a picture of him.
Dbone Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Ken, just gotta say brother... That picture of you on the side banner "Friends with Benefit!" is rather devilish, scary even. Did it have to be in red?
El Presidente Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 yes, it sounds like a bad joke. and no one shot it. Cheers Ken. You do know that Brisbane City Council has a 2 man deer eradication team for the suburbs (they shoot them). Called them yesterday. No need to thank me
Colt45 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Oh dear, I'd give some dough to see that - more than a few bucks. Otherwise, who's this "we" you speak of - something we should know??????
Ken Gargett Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 royal 'we'. and as for ayala, given they'd have nearly as big a file on you as they have on your mate, macho, i think the deer can rest easy. that said, i have no issue at all with the erradication of introduced species (tho i do release trout).
Ophidion Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 First buck I ever took had one antler. The other was lost in a fight that season as evidenced by the bucks missing eye. He had a lot of character. Then I ate him.
Vcool Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I shot a buck one year, One antler, one spike on it. A legitimate unicorn. Tasted like any other polycorn deer I've shot.
