brazoseagle Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Ken, you know my feelings already. As a life long local Cowboys fan, it absolutely pains me, but as a very proud Baylor Alumni, I am rooting for RG3 deep down in my heart. I must admit, I think they will beat my boys this year if RG3 continues to play like he can. Ken, did you say you are going to be at the airport in Dallas?

Ken, did you say you are going to be at the airport in Dallas? have sent a pm re being in dallas. getting my skins gear ready for it! be very interested to hear how you feel the day rg3 takes on the girls. there was a great twitter thingee from a skins fan after the game. "maybe we should get in touch with the rams and offer them even more".
Ken Gargett Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 i think that if they finish around even, it will be considered a good season given the crap of the last few years. better things expected in the next few years. rg3 can't do it all himself. and after the latest season ending injuries to key players yesterday, i suspect even 7-9 would be extremely respectable. remember that the winner of the division last year only went 9-7 and then won the superbowl.
mk05 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 My biggest worry is that he will get injured. What a run, these past several years for rookie quarterbacks. I don't think I've really seen a string of years where a bunch of rookie quarterbacks came in and really made a big difference for the team. Most of them have been busts over the course of history. Even Sanchez, he's making a difference.
perfectform Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I picked the Lambs. They had something to prove against RGIII after trading down in the draft. The letdown after whooping the Aints last week was obvious for the Deadskins. The evaluation continues.
oliverchang514 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 RG3 stomped me in my first week matchup and had a repeat preformance his second week. Cam Newton 2.0
perfectform Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 RG3 stomped me in my first week matchup and had a repeat preformance his second week. Cam Newton 2.0 Ability-wise, yes but that's where it ends. Cam Newton is a punk and a grandstander. It would appear that RGIII is going about it the right way. Letting his play do the talking. I'll be staying tuned.
khomeinist Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Punk? He is awfully talented and driven. I wouldn't bet against Cam.
perfectform Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I never said he didn't have ability/talent. Of course he does. Everyone in the NFL does. It's what you do with it that matters. Wouldn't bet against him? Based on what? He was 6-10 last year.
khomeinist Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Did you see the rest of his squad? Did you see the numbers he put up regardless? His attitude was certainly a factor in winning a BCS title. A lot of top athletes are less than gracious. So what. It is the play on the field that matters. Smiling for the cameras and acting like Uncle Tom doesn't make one a better athlete.
perfectform Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 BCS title? This is big boy football. Prolific numbers that net you 6 wins is not going to cut it in the NFL.
mk05 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Well, let's look at this in terms of facts. Peyton Manning's first year as an NFL QB, he threw 326/575 for a 56.7% completion, for 3700 yards, 26 TDs and 28 INTs. That's a 71.2 rating Cam Newton's first year as an NFL QB, he threw 310/517 for a 60.0% completion, 4051 yards, 21 TDs and 17 INTs. Well you say, Peyton was a rookie in 1998, game's much different now, and "elite" QBs generate around 4000-5000yds a year. OK, I'll give you that. Cam also ran 706 yards and 14 TDs, for a combined 4757 yards and 35 TDs total. It's a good comparison because in their rookie year, Cam had 1 receiver and a good backfield (Steve Smith, Delo/Stewart), whereas Peyton had Marvin Harrison and Marshall Faulk. The '98 Colts under Peyton also went 3-13 that year. There is a reason why Cam Newton is regarded as a phenom. He looks like Vince Young in college, except this is big boy football. And I'm sure Cam is worried about the VY comparison as well...
perfectform Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I know this is a RGIII thread, but just a quick note related to us getting off topic about Cam Newton. Really Cam? Down 23-0 Thursday against the G-men and you celebrate after scoring to make it 23-6? REALLY? This is what's wrong with the NFL. Then, to add insult to injury, CN sulks on the bench after being pulled prompting the real leader of the team to lay into him. Props Stevie Smith! Really Cam? Rant over...back on topic. I didn't see RGIII play yesterday but I guess it was a wild game.
khomeinist Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Fair enough. Cam had a horrible game. Perhaps continued adversity will fold him. Am reserving judgement for a bit.
Ken Gargett Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 that from a bloke in a bromance with rormo? i assume what you are trying to say is that rg3 is so good, he can do it lying on his back? granted early days, and the rest of the skins are playing like... well, sadly like the skins normally do, but here are some stats. yes, very early days but you can only go with what you have. and the bloke is missing his top receiver, best o-line etc etc. purely in terms of his efforts, you have to be happy. less so with the rest of the crap around him. this from espn, i think. Griffin right now is the 16th-leading rusher in the NFL. His 209 yards on the ground put him ahead of star running backs such as Darren McFadden and Michael Turner, and 128 yards ahead of the next two quarterbacks on the list -- Michael Vick and Cam Newton. Griffin is an excellent runner with speed and vision, and it would be unwise not to take advantage of his talents in this department. Of course, Griffin is also the No. 6-rated passer in the league with a mark of 103.5 that's higher than those of Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Tony Romo and Aaron Rodgers. He's only 18th in passing yards, in large part due to the absence of injured top wide receiver Pierre Garcon since the first half of the first game of the season, but he's fourth in yards per attempt, so when he does throw it, he's productive.

Ken- with your rather verbose rejoinder here of 255 words I offer a thousand: Ken: 255 Rob: 1022 You have some catching up to do mate!

mk05 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Are people really sitting here and saying Cam Newton and RG III are not going to be one of the greats in 5-10 years looking back? What factors are holding you back? Are you watching them? They're in shitty franchises making the best of what's around them. RG III has a better chance since Shanahan is a hell of a coach. I can't even believe this is a discussion.

mk05 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 It's OK Ken, let them smoke their Monte C's and wish for Dez Bryant (Demetrius Harris!) to turn into Moses. They're just mad because Jerry didn't trade Tony Romo for RG III rights pre-season.
Freefallguy Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 someone will look to make a name for himself by taking the kid down, hard.
Ken Gargett Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 imagine that. a cowgirl fan revelling in an injury suffered by a player from another team. still, an injured rg3 is ten times more valuable than a fit romo.
