Hi all,

I'm fairly new to CC's but out of the ones I've tried the Upmann Mag 48 LE '09 box I got through Rob has been my favourite.

Can anyone recommend a similar flavour profile?, preferably in a larger vitola

Depends on what you like in this particular cigar -

for instance, if you like the soft chocolate notes, you will find it in some (not all)

Partagas, Ramon Allones, some Robaina and so on.

But not in other Upmann cigars. Chocolate is a "Upmann-unique" in the 48.

If you enyjoy the nutty, creamy, bready (almost waferbiscuit-shortbread) toastyness and a touch of mild coffee, other Upmann's have that in spades.

Could you describe 2-3 core flavours that you like most about the Magnum 48?

Then we take it from there.

Best regards,

Alex

You've picked a great cigar to fall in love with.

I'm a huge fan of the 48 because it reminds me of what Upmann's used to taste like in the last century.

Unless you have a time machine ask Rob to pick you out a great box of Bolivar CG, Monte #1, Dip #2, Genios and/or RACG.

I think you'd also like the RA Extras and we can hope that the Upmann 2012 EL is the 48's big brother.

Spot on!

At this point my recommendation to the OP would be the VR Famoso and/or the Upmann Royal Robusto.

Ok, the flavours I enjoy are the chocolate notes, creamy notes and the hints of coffee. Not being a big fan of spice is one of the things that I like about the 48. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks to everyone that has replied.

I'd second the Robaina Famosos, plus, if you like a Lonsdale, Robaina Classico,

Montecristo Especial #1 or 2 and the Montecristo Piramides.

Another cigar that has great choc/cream/coffee plus, if you can bare some sweet spice (cinnamon/cloves etc), would be the Allones Superiores.

(Posted a more detailed review on these in the review section).

Then again, even if it sounds silly, only an Upmann is an Upmann...

Hope that helps,

cheers, Alex
