maverickdrinker Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 2005 original release RE Suiza RA Emenincia Got the opportunity to pick up a 5er of these from a great BOTL. Never seen them before and couldn't wait to try one. I have an affliction with RA Regionals. I find them to be the most consistent of all the marcas that I have tried. Will always buy some when I can!!!! There were 2 releases of this cigar. One in 2005 with the edicion regional band and one in 2007 with the Suiza band. This is the O.G. one. LOL The construction on this cigar is top notch. Nice and firm throughout the cigar and no soft spots. The wrapper is a light brown, like my couch!!!! Smooth to the touch with little to no veins. Drool factor high! The triple cap takes to my punch very easily. Getting very happy right now!!! Cold draw is perfect. A nice leathery sweetness with a touch of cedar. Nothing overpowering. I can't wait to light this up. Ok, enough banter. Time to take this to the flame....
maverickdrinker Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 first third MMMMMmmmmmm........ what a start. Stewed fruit, molasses, ginger and a touch of cedar for balance. BBBBBBEEEEAAAUUUTTTIIIFFFUUULLLL!!!! The cigar takes to the flame with ease. Gorgeous, full draws with blue smoke surrounding me like a blue shield. LOL Love the size of this cigar. 44 ring gauge by 5.6 inchess Just the right amount to enjoy on a nice summer evening. I am getting lost in the cigar. So much so, that I almost forget to capture my thoughts. This is hypnotic cigar. The flavours just captivate your tastebuds. Like when you walk down a street and see a stunning woman walking your way. The world moves in slow motion and you are in awe. This is the closest description that I can give right now. Less writing, more smoking. Back soon....
maverickdrinker Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 2nd third e·the·re·al [ih-theer-ee-uhl] Show IPA adjective 1. light, airy, or tenuous: an ethereal world created through the poetic imagination. 2. extremely delicate or refined: ethereal beauty. 3. heavenly or celestial: gone to his ethereal home. 4. of or pertaining to the upper regions of space. 5. Chemistry . pertaining to, containing, or resembling ethyl ether. Ethereal is the best word to describe this cigar right now. extremely delicate and refined. The strength is medium but the flavours are just sooooo refined, it is mind blowing. Love the RA profile!!!! Nice, sumptuous dried fruit, ginger and leathery cedar come together to deliver a fantastic smoking experience. Why did I not buy more of these?!? LOL The ash is a 'Dirty' whitish grey and the burn line is ok. It sometimes gets wonky but corrects itself over time. This is freakishly good. NO harshness whatsoever. Pure flavour through and through. A little cocoa now enters the fray as I start to enter the final third. Say, it isn't so. Damn it, I am entering the final third. 'insert very sad face here'
maverickdrinker Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 Final third nubilicious, nubtastic, nub, nub, nub till your daddy takes your T Bird away..... Now, I am wishing this was a bigger cigar, like a double corona. The flavours are off the hook. The cocoa compliments the dried fruit, ginger, and leathery cedar combination. Some earthiness is starting to come through as well. Strength is still medium and oh so, bad ass good!!! Damn band!!! Come off so I can continue to smoke you!!! There we go.... Now, we are reaching the pinnacle. All the flavours out for the world to enjoy. Earthiness, leather, cedar, dried fruit and ginger make for a recipe for pure bliss. Strength has moved up to the medium full category. Bring it on!!!! Shake that thang!!!! A dance party of flavours is busting a move on my palate. Afterfinish is soooo rich and long. Incredible!!!!! The earthiness is equivalent to the deep bass in a boom cha boom cha remix. LOL Just brings everything together. My nieghbour just came by, taking his dog for his nightly walk. He says "smells fantastic!!!" My response 'HELL YA!!!!" Why does this have to come to an end? Final Impressions If you have these, cherish them or if this isn't your cup of tea, send them to me. This is one delicious, rock star cigar!!!!

craigos Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I found a box in my humi of 2005 - Punch Edición Regional Suiza Regional Robusto - same year. Forgot i had them til last night - any ideas if they in the same ballpark as this other Swiss RE of the same year?
maverickdrinker Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 not sure what you mean by 'in the same ballpark?'
ramon_cojones Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Had one of these a couple years ago and it was too tight to enjoy, ended up tossing it. Will hit up my friend who has a box for another. 05 punch regional is very nice
bassman Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Smoked a couple 05 RA EMINENCIAS this week. Superb cigars with very complex flavor. Not much to them the first few years, but once they matured- quite a transformation. As for the 05 Swiss Punch Robusto, to my taste not much flavor at all. Wound up trading my remaining ones recently.
