mm12 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 My sister is getting married tomorrow and I'll be bringing some cigars to the reception. The problem is it is super humid right now and likely to be so tomorrow as well. I'm probably just going to bring a box of BRCs and maybe a box of some kind of PC. I don't think anything too long/skinny is going to fly in this weather. Everything is in my cabinet in an AC'd room at 61% right now. Whatever I bring is going to have to come out of the cabinet (and the AC) at around noon and won't be getting smoked until about 7 or 8. Right now thinking of either bagging the whole box in a couple of layers of big freezer bags or taking the cigars out and putting them a big Tupperware thing. Given the circumstances and schedule dragging a big ass cooler around probably won't be feasible. I got some pretty dry sacks of 60% heartfelt beads I could maybe work in somehow. Anyone ever dealt with an issue like this before or have any ideas for me?
CaptainQuintero Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 If it was me I'd double zip bag the cigars in two or threes and then keep them in small tupperwear boxes, maybe two or three boxes so you won't have them all open. Might look a little messy but they will be nice and airtight, maybe put the empty cigar box next to them so people can see what they are etc. Another good reason for splitting them up is people will be tipsy! I remember a party a few years ago where someone dumped the cigars I had brought for people into a coolbox full of ice water, either an anti-smoker facist or just a drunk person. Luckily they were double bagged so were fine but never underestimate the power of stupid people!
Smallclub Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Your cigars won't get too humid between noon and 8pm if they're stored at 61% until noon.
Colt45 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Just for kicks, have you ever seen the soft sided cooler bags that look like a messenger bag? They should easily hold two boxes, or boxes worth of cigars. I wouldn't put ice packs in with the cigars, but I might chill the bag overnight beforehand.
Tyemv Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Had the same issue a few weeks ago. Don't over think it. Put all your cigars in a freezer bag (much thicker than regular ziplock), also include a humidity pack. Leave it in your glove compartment. The cigar won't dry up. I also brought BRC.
