I spent the last week at my families place on Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Besides all the other fun activities the lake provides, it's real fun to fish! The lake has healthy amounts of smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye (amongst other fish). I love fishing the smallmouth, they give up such a good fight right up to the end. Anyway, we spent the better part of the morning fishing in 35' water with sucker fish as bait. The lake was warm, so we had to go deep. Bombed them strait down and left them about a foot off the bottom. The pike were hungry, but not biting hard. A good 30 to 45 seconds after the initial strike until we went for the set. I good day fishing has four main ingredients for me, 25% fishing, 25% being with friends, 25% being on the lake / boat, 25% soaking in the environment.... and this time all added up to a perfect day.

The pike were on the small side, but as I say... better to have half half a loaf than no bread at all. I caught 4 pike, my buddy caught 2 pike and a smallmouth.... and I smoked a Party Lusi and SLR DC from Robs sampler. The cigars were equally as good as the fishing.

I never fished on Lake Geneva, but I love the town. Up here on the lakes around the Hayward area we have a lot of good fishing, but I try to leave the Northern till the ice fishing. As far as the smokes if you want the good stuff you obviously have to bring your own.

Thanks guys, it was a blast and really can't wait to do it again. Time seems to go by to fast.

I can't get into ice fishing devon, but a buddy of mine rents permanent shacks out on the lake. It looks like fun and all, but just not cup of tea.
