kiwicrusaders Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 JuSt curious, recently purchased a box of Bolivar PC's. The wrappers on quite light in colour and every now and again have a slight green tinge to the colour. Is this normal for Bolivar's and does this impact on taste profile at all?
dicko Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I'm a bit of a Boli *****, so always have a few boxes rotating of bolivars, including the PC's. They are generally darker, more rustic and oily wrappers, but I've had a range of colours, including lighter shades. Been decent smokes too. Ive had greenish patches on cigars too, although I'll wait to hear from more knowledgeable members on why that is so!
gigabyte056 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Hi, The greenish patches are due to poorly cured tobacco. this is more evident in claro wrappers like you have on your bolivars. From my experience there is no effect on flavor or burn quality of the tobacco.
Blakes Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I've had a few green patches on different boxes.. i think its quite common with bolivar's. But to my mind or what i could tell it never affected the taste, smoke etc.. at all!
CaptainQuintero Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I've noticed a slight green tint to some Trinidad wrapper, similar to the red on some RyJ and some Upmanns.
Colt45 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I've had a number of green tinged wrappers (a whole box of Upmann Sir Winston from 2000), and while perhaps a bit less than aesthetically pleasing, they've tasted great. (I'm talking about wrapper hue versus spotting)
Dbone Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 The green patches are called Frog Eyes, white spots Angle Kisses. Both due to no perfect curing process.
nikesupremedunk Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Yea i even have green spots on my 00 Boli CE's. My BPC's also have some green spots, and it smokes well.
Dbone Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Are those the technical name? lol LOL - If I was in charge yes. Habanos probably calls it part of the natural process. It's a reminder though, that this is a natural organic product.
