rcarlson Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Do any of you have a box code suggestion for Monte No. 2s? They've been all over the place, but I heard 2011 was good year depending on the factory. Has anybody had a box that was just "on?"
winelover Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 You just got to take a crapshoot and hope unless you can ask the team at Czars to find you a box. If not get your retailer to check the construction carefully as the Cubans should be good at making pirimades at least, as they roll enough. Ideally you'd be looking for some oily wrappers too - some nice sheen. Some prefer maduro wrappers but I like mine with Colorado claro wrappers. Each to their own I guess. I'd also buy them to age a bit at least. If you want to smoke something young you'd probably be better off with the petit edmundo or something else. That said it has been commented, see mycigarblog, that 2011 is a good year for montes. I pulled the trigger on some PLM ABR 11's and the first one I tried told me to **** right off. It was not ready to smoke despite 6 weeks resting and just gave me a smack around the chops and queasy feeling from all of the nicotine, perfect construction though. Next from the box was my best cigar of last month, not overly complex (this is a young smoke) but everything else you'd want in a monte 2 - cocoa, coffee, cream, a bit of earth, and it was thoroughly nubbed. Best of luck, Graham
Diamondog Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 MGA MAR 11 PLM ABRIL 11 are both smoking brilliant for young cigars
