EL1990 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Hey, I've been craving some ice wine. Could you guys recommend a few good one please. I would also like to gift a bottle to a very good friend of mine. I would prefer a sweeter wine.. red or white? Budget upto $50/bottle. Cheers guys!
geneticdrifter Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Does it have to be Ice wine or can it be another sweet wine? I really enjoy Tokaji's.
Puros Y Vino Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Henry of Pelham Cab / Franc icewine. Aroma and taste of rhubarb and strawberries. Excellent example of Icewine.
PigFish Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 You might try spending some time on Rob's sister site Spitbuket.com. Ken and some of the 'winos' from here frequent the place and it is similar to FoH except about wine. Cheers. -the Pig
Squarehead Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 All Ice-Wines are sweet.Basically they're Dessert-Wines.Konzelmann makes an exdellent Ice-Wine.For budget reason go with Magnotta. Ice-wine was invented in Germany by accident in the 17th hundreds and Konzelmann is propably the most qualified of them all.His family goes back to winemaking over 500 years. The problem of getting Konzelmann Icewine is you have to go to the Winery in Niagara on the Lake as they're not available or very rarly in the LCBO's Cheers
