mk05 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Well I met up Yoruba Hacker tonight for the Celtics game and we both lit up the GE. Two different perspectives, but both in agreement that this is a decent cigar. YH sees this as an extension of the Monte EL series. Familiar core EL tastes. Enjoyed the first half but was disappointed how it lost flavors midway. Was interested in how this would evolve into. To me, this cigar reminds me of Christmas. Underneath it all, this cigar's theme is cedar. The cigar starts off with a very interesting carbonation to the smoke. Does that even make sense? Well I found a nice coca-cola backed by a rich cedar profile. Halfway through, it lost that bubbliness. It really calms down in intensity and presents a carmalized nuts with cedar. The Monte marsh mellow comes through slowly. The last third tries to build into something, but it's still too young to dissect. We think that this cigar should not be smoked liberally, but rather in small sips. A lot more flavors come through when you take small draws. This cigar should also be sat for a while. The burn is wonky and varied. It will benefit from serious sit down time.
rcarlson Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 I haven't had a bad one yet. In fact, every one absolutely stellar. I totally agree with the small sips approach to smoking it though. I think the brief rest, and cooler draw help the flavors immeasurably. Maverick, let us know your thoughts.

Spot on, and a real life reminder of how your smoking technique affects your experience. This event was about less smoke than more per puff vs frequency, but the coolness point is dead right. The cigar simply tasted and nosed better with less smoke. Easier to find the good tastes when the smoke was less crowded, if you can imagine. That's not always the case with every cigar, and for some cigars it's absolutely about getting a lot of thick cottony smoke per puff. Just not this one. To me. Yesterday.
