Jnaube Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 So I go to Québec city to see my father today and we decide to go take a walk in the old town. Sadly I forgot my cigars home so I stop in a store in the old city where the sell cubans. I see this box of Montecristo's 2 with a pale brown ring and get immediately intrigued since the changed the band to a darker brown shade with an embossed logo in a not so distant past. To my surprise, the box was dated to 2000. I immediately ask the cashier: Do you just refill this box or this is the original content??? Original content he says. The box contained 3 puros, priced at 40 cdn dollars each. I bought em all and smoked one immediately. Man this smoke was smooooooth. Great from beginning to end, draw was a bit tight but nothing bad.Coffee, vanilla even some buttery notes. An amazing stick. I managed to save 2 of these babies for my humi, I took some pictures for you. Enjoy!
LGC Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Sorry to tell you this, but those are not the original contents of the box. The matte band was not changed to a glossy finish until 2003. I had a 2000 box of Monte #2; but they are long gone.
Jason55555 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Those look beautiful something about the look of the Monte 2 in you humidor that completes it lol

mk05 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Hey! Take'm back and get a discount! Tell'em you'll write a nasty review about the shop for LYING! lol, hey, at least you have some aged M2s on you...unless the shop replaced bands to jack up the price...once you find they are lying, who knows how far they went...
Colt45 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Yes, the fleur de lis on the bands is the "newer" style.
