pedromendes Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 As some of you know, I'm a producer at CBC Radio here in Canada. I usually work behind the scenes, but I also occasionally do short radio documentaries. I was in Havana a couple of weeks ago collecting tape for a series of stories I'm doing on Cuban arts and culture. The first one hit the air last night: how the current revolution in Cuban food will change people's view of cuisine on the island. I'll post my other pieces as they air this week and next.
cottierm Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Very interesting Pedro. Thanks for posting and sharing that with us. Best, Michel
tempbond Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Nice piece Pedro, thanks ! Looking forward to the other ones.
Nedule Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Nice Pedro. I was in Cuba for my first time in April, heard all the warnings of bad food. My take on their food after the trip was done, resort food was OK, don't eat the "North American" style food like, pizza, pancakes. Resort style Cuban food was the better daily choice, but the best food on the whole trip was from street vendors. When we were in town, Verardero & Havana we lined up with the locals & ordered what they ate. In downtown Havana we had some sort of fried rice with 3 squirts of vinegar’ish stuff for 2 pesos, the best food the whole trip.
headstand Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Thanks for sharing Pedro. Caught the link to the Correnti segment also - good work.
Blackham Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 street food in Cuba is awesome as well You and Matteo have done a great job, bravo
Nino Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Very interesting and a good insight - thank you for sharing ! While Cafe Laurent is a top notch address and worth the visit, it is fortunate that many other Paladares are up & providing good food, service and competition for the last year or so despite the hardships. Just hope change continues in the right track.
