Forgive me if this has been covered. I'm mobile and can't search adequately now.

What "substance" do some NC manufacturers apply to make their wrappers appear so oily. I've heard a thick coffee liquid application is brushed on.

Saw one today that you could literally wipe off a brown stain onto a napkin or the like.

tpically a dye...I haven't researched it much but I've heard rocky patel for one is guilty of this...I watched a video on it, maybe youtube can't remember but its out there...the video was exacty that different cigars wiped with paper towel

I've had the same results when wiping down a crappy nc and a premium nc. The (kind of) crappy was a rocky Patel and the premium a af anejo. They may or may not dye... Its all hearsay.

A little mineral oil goes a long way. I wouldn't put it past any manufacturer - or for that matter, unscrupulous merchants.

A few years ago, I spoke with a fellow who was in the NC cigar business. General manager or something like that. He told me rather matter-of-factly that mineral oil and a bit of dye were not at all unusual treatments.
