I just opened my '07 box of magicos, which had been placed on long term leave due to tasting like ass for the last 2 years... by the way that flavor is missing from the "flavor wheel". Anyway, I'm getting floral out of the two I've smokes today, of which I've never tasted before. It's like I just chomped into a handful of flowers.

This has got to be the most noticeable change from age I've experienced yet. Anyone else with '07 Maduro 5's, I suggest you take a chance to see if you have the same treat in hiding.

This is an interesting thread. When these had first come out and for two years after, a European vendor who I am friednly with said she couldn't stand them because they were so obnoxiously floral and nothing else. As she prefers El Principe and Romeo cigars, she couldn't tolerate the Maduro 5. The comment in this thread, to me, is consistent with the taste of the original release Maduro 5 and the initial impressions.

On a side note, Nicaraguan and Ecuadorian tobacco are very floral. I have often wondered why I am reminded of that when the discussion goes to Cohiba Maduro 5.

Until this recent sampling, the cigars were very bitter and tasteless. I had three last year back to back and a couple I didn't even finish more than half way. Disappointing because the wrappers are oil blotched, construction perfect... feel like they're made out of concrete. Heavy in the hand and no give what so ever... but draw and burned perfect. The flavor I had this weekend on the two I sampled was yeah... floral mixed with champagne. Really out of this world and wonderfully balanced. A hint of bitterness I hope will smooth out with more time. Not Cohiba flavors at all, wonder where they're going with this line...

Makes you wonder if the original release made a point to age the cigars for more time than those later released. Which would explain the later development of the floral flavor that was immediately present in the OR.

Male or female? Boss or mistress? :rotfl:

(Sorry, I couldn't resist asking.)
