Got my first box of cigars airmailed from Cigar Czar last week they were a box of 10 Partagas Series D No 4. I decided to taste one to see how a young 2011 PSD4 taste before I age them, the box is a BUA SEP-11 batch.

First Third: Very salty with cherries and leather flavours are prevalent

Second Third: Salty / White pepper spice with cherries and dark chocolate lashing between puffs

Final Third: Wow does the taste really mature now it’s very creamy smoke with a honey tint (very nice) and background of cherries, it only last for a bit but pleasant none the less. Razor sharp burn the whole way never needed a touch up.

Overall this is a young cigar and you can taste it, the only negative is the draw was a little loose would have liked a firmer one. Taste wise the description that is on the Cigar Czar web site is 100% correct it says.......

- Outstanding. Medium to full bodied with intense flavours of leather chocolate nuts tinned cherries and white pepper spice. Recent stock has been nothing short of magnificent. This is a cigar to have now or put away as it will reward ageing in spades.

I’ve tasted the 2010 batch which was amazing which I got sweet jam and cinnamon flavours but new 2011 flavours of cherries, leather, chocolate cream, and honey were superb. This is a medium cigar and should be paired with something sweet aka a nice sweet old rum 12+. I can’t imagine how the cherries and chocolate taste will meld given a few years

Cherries,Leather,Chocolate,Cream,Honey...WoW great batch Cigar Czar 96/100

Thanks :spotlight:

You did get a cracker Jason. My personal experience with the D4 has not been so great. Very inconsistant. I'd have 90+ pointer like yours, then the next 2 or 3 would taste like paper. I've been told age will smooth them out, but I'm not sure. These things are made year round, with our without good tobacco. I'd agree, box of 10 is probably best way to purchase. Thanks for the review :peace:

Nice. Yes, they have to be on to be worth it. But like so many CC's the best cigars can be off from time to time. When these are on, they are as good as any robusto out there. To me, wrapper color is everything. Dark and oily means flavor!
