Guybrush Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) Hello, I am looking for a rich and full cigar with tastes of leather and hazelnut cream and tons of smoke. I don't like if a cigar ist too woody in taste. Thanks in advance and best regards, G. Edited March 7, 2012 by Trevor2118 Moved to the "Water Hole" forum.
Lotusguy Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Welcome aboard, Mr. Threepwood Mhmm, leather+cream-wood... can't really think of anything with this profile - sorry. Maybe a Monte PE but not much leather in those.
CaptainQuintero Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Try the H Upmann Connoisseur No. 1, the Upmann No 2 or Mag 50, maybe the Hoyo De Monterrey Des Deux, Epi No 1, Epi No 2 or du Dauphin. You should find what you are looking for somewhere in that and the main thing is you'll have some fun finding out which one suits you best
Guybrush Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Thank you for your suggestions so far! The H.Upmann No 2 is one of my favorite cigars but the Mag50 I tried so far had the strange "Old woman's perfume" CaptainQuintero mentioned once. (I found the same taste in a Juan Lopez Sel. No 1 recently.)
CaptainQuintero Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Thank you for your suggestions so far! The H.Upmann No 2 is one of my favorite cigars but the Mag50 I tried so far had the strange "Old woman's perfume" CaptainQuintero mentioned once. (I found the same taste in a Juan Lopez Sel. No 1 recently.) It not something regular, normally a one off and not a taste you get that often, especially not in a specific cigar. Probably worth trying another one, you most likely won't taste it again for a long time and then it will probably be in a totally different cigar. I think you'll probably find what you're looking for in the Connie #1 or Des Dieux if the recent ones I've had are anything to go by.
Guybrush Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Thanks again. I have a Cab of Des Dieux and tried some Connoisseur No. 1. Both are great but also mild. The Des Dieux also has some floral aromas.
mm12 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 In order, El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme, Cohiba Siglo III, and San Cristobal Officios. Magnum 50's really are the best fit to the flavor profile you described, so as another poster mentioned, you might want to try getting some more or even just wait a few years if you already have some.
Guybrush Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 I also think about trying a Sir Winston. The El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme is for sure a great cigar. Not sure if there is a difference between Box of 25 and Cabinet of 50.
thechenman Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I'm thinking H. Upmann Magnum 50 of an Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial.
mk05 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Monte eapeciale Less so, erdm cs All great siggestions. Those hdms need time before they turn creamy
Guybrush Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 What I like about the H.Upmann No.2 is that it's also full and lush.
partifan Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 If you don't taste wood in upmann 2's and sir winnies, I don't know if you are smoking 2's or Sir winnies.
aavkk Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I think you will find the recent QDO Imperiales enjoyable. POL OCT 10 I believe is the current code. I find them to be very creamy with quite a bit of leather as well as black pepper. Medium to med/full. The Partagas factory in 10' and 11' is on fire!
Guybrush Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 I never smoked a Sir Winston - I considered it as an option. I smoked H.Upmann No.2 and they had full, lush and rich leather and hazelnut flavours especially in the 2nd third. Still I can't remember I ever tasted wood in a H.Upmann No.2.
Guybrush Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Thanks aavkk. I never tried QDO but now I'd like to.
ct4 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Behike 52..it will take you on a ride and you'll forget what sort of profile you wanted and enjoy the creamy, rich, sweet flavour of a classic.. ct
cmcompto Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I'll second the Hoyo De Mont. Epi No 1, it is typically rich but less woody taste, in my opinion.
