Bolismoker Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I was just sitting here leafing through Min Ron Nee's book, and trying to control my drooling. When I stumbled across the entry for the Ramon Allones Corona. Man do I miss this cigar! Before it was discontinued back in '02, I tried to stock up and put away several cabs. It was one of my go to smokes that I could always count on to be great! Sadly they are all long since smoked. Reading the description in the book was like stumbling across a picture of a loved one who has passed away, my heart was filled with sadness, and I had a longing to see my old friend again. I guess the only cure is to burn a RASS after dinner tonight. Not the same but it'll have to do. If SA ever cuts the RASS I may just end it all. It got me to thinking with all the cuts SA has done in the last 10-15 years what smokes are gone that you fellas long for? Another one for me is the cab version of the Bolivar CE, easily my favorite daily smoke for over the past decade. For your enjoyment the entry in Min Ron Nee's book for the RA Corona: "Produced in very small numbers. Stronger than the Gigantes and Specially Selected. 20 year old ones tastes (typo as it appears in the book) great. Still have plenty of room to improve Strength 4/5. Minimum aging recommended: Semi Plain Boxes, 4 years Cabinets, 7 to 8 years."
cigcars Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 El Rey Del Mundos, Por Larranagas, Ramon Allones and Saint Luis Reys all seem to have had their lonsdale (or dalia) sizes discontinued, to my great consternation because that's the primary size I like when not engaged with a perfecto/torpedo/belicoso size
Phillycyclocross Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 El Rey Del Mundos, Por Larranagas, Ramon Allones and Saint Luis Reys all seem to have had their lonsdale (or dalia) sizes discontinued, to my great consternation because that's the primary size I like when not engaged with a perfecto/torpedo/belicoso size Agreed. Lonsdale is the perfect size for me. If they ever discontinue the PC size I'll just give up cigars altogether.
Bolismoker Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 Agreed. Lonsdale is the perfect size for me. If they ever discontinue the PC size I'll just give up cigars altogether. Don't know that I'd quit cigars, but the loss of the PC (and TPC) would be devastating
Smallclub Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Don't know that I'd quit cigars, but the loss of the PC (and TPC) would be devastating What justifies this speculation? The PC is the size that sells the most worlwide…
Phillycyclocross Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I wasn't speculating. Just being a drama queen and pointing out the fact that they have discontinued many wonderful CC's. I do understand their reasoning. Just lamenting over it.

cigcars Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Gee, you'd think HSA would LISTEN to us out here who want our Ramon Allones 898, Punch Black Prince, ad infinitum BACK!!!
CanuckSARTech Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Gee, you'd think HSA would LISTEN to us out here who want our Ramon Allones 898, Punch Black Prince, ad infinitum BACK!!! Oh, we'll likely get them back, just as RE's or EL's, and at about 25% more cost.
cigcars Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Oh, we'll likely get them back, just as RE's or EL's, and at about 25% more cost. Ya think!?
Smooth Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Partagas corona and any lonsdale, they were 'my' vitolas and I'm yet to find a substitute... Add to that the boli ce and sancho panza belicosos...
Bolismoker Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Loosing the Boli CE is heart breaking. Far and away my favorite daily smoke, for at least 10 years. I had one last night that was superb. A tremendous loss.
