Vortigan Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Not so much a review I guess,as I had no intention of doing this when I set out,more a wanting to try and articulate a brief eulogy whilst still in the moment,having just reluctantly laid this one down to rest.Wow what a wonderful smoke this has been.Full bodied,medium/full flavour,always smooth,right down to that last half inch.It had all the wonderful spice,pepper,wood and earthiness that we'd all expect from a D4 but this had added extras that I've certainly never before experienced with them.Right off the bat there was a wonderfully surprising Digestive biscuit (Gram cracker) flavour there and a very subtle coffee in the background.And once the cigar had gained some momentum and for the final three quarters there has been the most fantastic dark chocolate weaving in and out between all those well known and well documented Partagas flavours.Only a very slight inconsistency in the burn but that is by no means any kind of a detraction from such an enjoyable journey.I've been very lucky with this smoke,always found it consistent and such a joy but this really seemed extra special.That was definitely one of those that I didn't want to end,thank you Partagas 94/100
Dbone Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Thanks for the review Vortigan, and nice to see you posting again. My box of 2010 are hit and miss with most flavors not showing their true colors. They're down for a year, I'll see how they're doing at that time. Glad to hear you got ahold of a real cracker!

MrFriday Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Had one last night. From my box of 10 i have smoked 5 and they all smoked great but a different experience with each. I just dont have the discipline to let them age.

PSD4's when in their sick phase can surely make you feel that way. But When that is all over they are one of my favorites Don't give up on them
