brazoseagle
2/11/2012 V-tines Steaksperience - Meatscape Review of my HQ Trini Reyes - Gorgeous Sticks. Cigars -(just to see the glory) http://www.friendsof...howtopic=109396 For full details on my steak recipes and aging process please see (very popular thread) - http://www.friendsof...howtopic=107315 First off the meal: Valentine DInner for me and the old lady Me: 20 oz. Texas Prime Ribeye (brazoseagle dry aged cheat) - Glorious - nothing else to say Wife: 12 oz. Texas Prime Tenderloin Filet (dry age cheat) - I guess it was good Whole clove garlic sourdough bread Loaded baked sweet potato Dessert - Creme Brule, mini coconut cream pies, chocolate mouse tarts (Pics follow) Cigar - Aug 2011 - Trinidad Reyes HQ Cigar: First off, I've had many a Reyes in my day, and I only got these 48 hrs. ago, and these are legitimately the best looking cigars I've ever seen. These cigars had character of quality before I even lit it up. 1st-1/3 - Wonderful Draw - Simply Buttery Pure., Pure,. Pure Tobacco - that's it, that's all I have, magnificent pure tobacco dipped in pure butter and kissed by angels! 2nd- 1/3 - Still Buttery Tobacco, but sweeter- Toasted Buttered Almonds, Nut Bread, almost Butterscotch - AMAZING white ash At this point of the smoke it sincerely had the taste and richness of a high quality plain glazed donut - That's as accurately as I can describe it! final-1/3 - Still Pure Tobacco. Still Sweet, now tones of strong Espresso, strong underlying hints of sweetened condensed milk. Just a glorious cigar, ash was beautiful, draw was beautiful, and the quality and heritage and taste was something nostalgic. I had a definite sensory experience with this cigar. The only thing I can compare it to is this: When I was a kid, I can still to this day, fondly remember this sensory experience, something that I still can almost grab a hold of the smell in my memory. My grandfather, fresh from the shower, newly shaved, smelling steamy of soap, deodorant and aftershave, smelling like a real man. Even now it sticks in my mind, that it was what a real man smells like. This cigar is in the same realm, "What a MAN IS!" This cigar provides that same benchmark smell. Trinidads in general have always struck me as a gentleman's smoke. Very complex and refined character, yet easy to enjoy with out the need for the super palate of a seasoned connoisseur to appreciate
riazp
Great post Buddy. I love the Reyes as well, i'm smoking through a 12 ct HQ box from 2010, Good god all mighty man what a smoke. The flavours you've described are pretty much spot on. i'm seriously considering a PSP box of these.

My greed got the better of me and I purchased two other boxes for the same price.

HaHa, the sad part is, because we usually eat in front of the TV to watch a movie or something, we sue the dinky TV trays, and it will only hold your plate, my mug, my wine and 2 bottles. Usually at Stage left, in reaching distance are 2 more bottles of beer, and the decanter full of wine. I'm glad you like it!

brazoseagle
Congratulations. Where did you source the dry-aged prime from? It's Texas, there's prime beef everywhere, in stores, in mom & pop butcher shops, and also raised on your own land. As far as the aging, i aged it myself, there is a link to the recipe at the top of the post.
