Ken Gargett Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 rob and i did a vid for the new LE Cohiba 1966 2011 release. no spoilers but whacko!! we were discussing past LE's. in particular the cohiba pyramides. we both agree that the 2006's were better than the early ones. i think the early ones were 2001's from memory. rob reckons they came as a millenium release and were packaged in a jar. i have a different recollection. i thought that they were just in boxes as a normal LE release and the millenium release was separate. to be fair to rob, he was pissed (always helps the review - smithy must be tearing his hair out the number of times we forgot sound or tripped on the light cord and so on) so his memory may have been clouded. (and before he ******* at me revealing his drinking problem, i refer him to his 'village idiot' comment - this seemed only fair). can anyone assist?
MrGlass Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I always thought they came in a glass top box?
CanuckSARTech Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I think the LE Piramides in 2001 were in boxes. The jar release was something separate, just a "regular" piramide (not an EL, no extra-aged tobacco used). Something just special in the packaging for the European market.
CanuckSARTech Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Edit - just checked out Trevor's webpage. You were both right, and you were both wrong. Actually, as much as it frightens me to say it...... ..... ..... .....Kenny boy, it looks like you were right!!!!!! There was a Cohiba piramide in a jar. But that was the Millenium Reserva, numbered ceramic jars, released in 1999, with a special "Habanos 2000" band. Nothing special to the tobacco with those, and not directly in the EL program. Then, in 2001, there was the actual EL release of Cohiba Piramides EL 2001, with the aged 2-year-old wrapper, and in 25-boxes. Sorry Rob...
JSPEC Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 The 2001 release was in a light brown box the re-release of 2006 was a black ebony type box (like the maduro 5 line) and the Millenium reserva were available in a jar. Hope that helps mate. -Marty
rckymtn22 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I was going to answer but CanuckSarTech, provided the same info I would have got from Trevor's site.
jay8354 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 My question is why Ken and Rob didn't check Trevor's website and gone to the FOH members instead.....
Ken Gargett Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 My question is why Ken and Rob didn't check Trevor's website and gone to the FOH members instead..... there was drinking involved. and to all, much ta for the info. and to rob, never in doubt!! i think that is a box of the 1966's you owe me!
Trevor2118 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 there was drinking involved. This I believe.
Fuzz Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 My question is why Ken and Rob didn't check Trevor's website and gone to the FOH members instead..... Honestly, do you really think either of them would have been in any condition to think about searching Trevor's site, let alone type in the correct web address?
maalouly Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Honestly, do you really think either of them would have been in any condition to think about searching Trevor's site, let alone type in the correct web address? Haha so true! I saw the Jar ones at Lebanon's airport they also had the Cuaba's, they waned $2000 USD for them. Love my cigars but dont love them that much.

El Presidente Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 i admit i got it completely wrong. again. everything i said about ken is, as usual, complete rubbish. i am a terrible person and a compulsive liar. i do not deserve to have a friend like ken. i will deliver the box of '66s immediately. as long as i get the proceeds from our bet, i don't mind!! Which would be squat given I was miraculously correct? Where am I going wrong here? Why is it you haunt me? And I think it is important for forum members to know that Ken has taken to painting faces on the empty plastic bottles on his deck ....ala Tom Hanks....a whole family of Wilson's to keep him company........except....they appear to be all female. And no....I have no idea why the water in the bottles is yellow....given they purportedly catch rainwater
Fuzz Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I'm sure it is rainwater... just filtered through Ken first!
android Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Ummmmmm yes...KG was correct as stated above! I have a jar and a box of those babies...just smoked one of the 2001 LE in Cancun, Mexico a few weeks ago...quite tatsy...had not even cracked the box open in 5+ yrs.
CanuckSARTech Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 So I guess the question then becomes, which cigars, which versions of the Cohiba Piramides, were the ones being debated over? The Millenium Reserva, or the Edicion Limitadas?
