Rushman Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Tried the first of a new supply of RASCC I just got in. This example had no visible construction issues but the wrapper began to open up not long after lighting (not shown in pics), although that corrected itself by the second third Medium full smoke but a less than favorable draw. Hoping they improve over time. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631586,-87.071023
BobKincaid Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Really love the fruitiness that lurks in these. I'm running low, and will hate it when they're gone. It's a completely different smoke from the PartiShorts, and makes for an intriguing choice between the two when time is short.
nonameno Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Hi Rushman, I agree with Shlomo. These are generally a very enjoyable smoke! I am hopefull after a rest that these will be wonderful for you two! Thank you for sharing, Curtiss
CBL Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 One of my favorites! There should be a review somewhere of a comparison I did between an '08 and an '10, maybe yours still need a little rest, not sure what year yours are. I need to get another box soon, these are pretty hard to come by, but they're extremely consistent in taste and quality!
Rushman Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Quick update. Having little to no patience I've smoked 3 more since this post. What a 180. I'm hooked. Great little beefy smokes. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631692,-87.070664
El Presidente Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 One of my favourites when on but "on" and "off" is a bees **** in construction. They tend to suffer in relation to construction more than other Minuto/Half Corona's.
winelover Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I've always found these to be like a mini RASS in terms of flavour delivery. Never had any construction issues fortunately. Haven't seen them around either. Hopefully they are not on that dreaded list.
edlye Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Bought my first RASCC (a single from 2008) from my favorite B&M today. Unfortunately, it was totally plugged. Fortunately, I can bring it back for an exchange...
riazp Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 These are really hard to find for some reason...Exellent cigar, I'm down to 2 singles in my humi and i'm on a serious ration till I can locate a box or two.
mnzoui Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 This cigar has a funny taste. I smoke one every 3-4 months just to remember that unique taste. I don't love or hate this cigar but I know I will keep smoking it.
Lotusguy Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 One of my favourites when on but "on" and "off" is a bees **** in construction. They tend to suffer in relation to construction more than other Minuto/Half Corona's. +1 - they are frustratingly inconsistent in construction
Hohenthal Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 +1 - they are frustratingly inconsistent in construction Maybe I was just lucky so far, but i never had a problem there. But then again, I like my cigars more firmly rolled than most others do, it helpes the depth and quality of flavour IMHO. Late 07, early 08 production:
Charltonc Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I just smoked my last one last week from my box from 2010. It was delicious, but I always get about five with tight draw in a box. I have been enjoying Monte 5s, but I am out of them.
aavkk Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Of the 5 or 6 boxes I have smoked from I can say that Ive had about 10 that have been very tight but none that were unsmokable. All boxes were from late 06/early 07 though.
edlye Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 +1 - they are frustratingly inconsistent in construction +2 on the inconsistent construction and draw I barely managed to get a taste of the replacement RASCC I got from my B&M - that's 2 out of 2 sticks that were plugged. I made sure to cut it and check the draw before I left the store. Lo and behold, the draw got firmer as soon as the first third was done. I tried to roll and massage it - didn't work. Decided to re-clip the cap and re-light, still plugged, tossed it soon after. On a positive note, the wrapper held up to the 'man-handling' and didn't unravel. Not wanting to waste a perfectly sunny day, I pulled out the VR Clasico bought from the same B&M and it smoked perfectly down to the band.
