Hash Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Hello All, any one smoked R&J churchill -non tube- lately what impression did leave , is the quality any good currently. I understood that Habanos might release Reserva edition for 2012.
riazp Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 the only RyJ that I smoke is the Short Churchill. its a decent smoke, but in general i'm very underwhelmed by this marca. to mild for my tastes. Now as for the LE..if its as good as the Duke from 2009, we'll be in for a treat.
Hohenthal Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Current opinion is that R&J Churchills were great-sensational in "the old days" (I'd sign that). Since the still unfinished renovations on the R&J factory, inconsistency has been an issue - however, if you look at the history of reserva / gran reserva releases, these do not necessarily mirror the standard production cigars. Special leaves, jealously chosen for special releases, are used. Long story short, they might not be a "typical" Churchill, but as something that stands on its own, worthwile, if you have the coin, because sure enough, they will be pricey.
drake2k Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I've had several RyJ Churchill lately, both tubos and non. Personally, I prefer the tubos, although both are great cigars IMO.
thechenman Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I've never had a RyJ Churchill that I've really enjoyed...en tubo or not. That said...I'd still give a Reserva version of an RyJ Churchill a shot.
