Plato Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I did a forum search and couldn't find anything exactly like this. Even if there was, I think it would be interesting to see what sort of replies we would get today. The first four have to be smokes you've never had that you would want to have before you died. Edicion Limitadas & Regional Editions can be included. For these first four, money is no object. The cigars can be as rare as you want. It can be a cigar you've smoked, but from a year you've never smoked. The final four are the smokes that you have already had in your life, and that you would have to have before your time on earth was up. It should be something that you have in your humidor now, or that you know you could realistically get your hands on with a few days notice (it could be from a buddies humidor, Rob's humidor, etc.) My first four that I would want to have before I kicked the bucket: Davidoff Dom Perignon from the 1980s Montecristo No. 2 with 30+ years of age Cohiba Robusto from the early 1990s H. Upmann Sir Winston from the early 1990s The four I know and love that I would have to smoke again: Montecristo A (from 2002) I have a couple of these waiting for me in my humidor H. Upmann Sir Winston (Recent production because yeah they are that good) Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona 2008 Punch Double Corona 2008 Id love to hear your thoughts. Sorry if this is a little rambling. I took the second half of today off of work because I'm feeling ill. I took some nyquil so I can try and get some sleep. And needless to say I am feeling a little loopy. Mike
CanuckSARTech Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Excellent thoughts, Mike/Plato. Thanks for getting this one going. My first four (four cigars that I would want to have before kicking the bucket, money no object), not in any special order: - Trinidad Fundadore, original production 1998 stick - Cohiba Behike, original release, from the original humidor (I'd actually love to sledgehammer my way into the display case in Havana to get at these (Does anybody else see anything wrong with a cop having those kinds of thoughts? Nope, me neither! LOL.) - Edmundo Dantes Conde 109, original release, excellent quality (I know these can be a bit all over the place potentially with the aging now) - original aged Davidoff Cuban sticks (not really sure which one, but Champagne might be my choice). Just the history and aura around those pique my interest, and my desire to have at least one before I get my butt shot. My second four (four nice sticks that I have or could easily get to be in my "final eight" cigars), again, not in any special order: - Partagas 898 Varn, PSP quality, with at least 5 years age - Diplomaticos No. 1, aged, from 2002, one particular stick that I got in a trade with ChanceSchmerr - Diplomaticos No. 2, PSP quality, exact same that I had from the Blind Cigar Taste Testing, but with about 3 years age on it (YUM!) - Montecristo No. 2 or No. 4, again, PSP quality, with 2 years nice aging LOL. Looking back at this list, it's funny how I don't have any robustos in there. But, those are "general duty" smokes for me, and these others are real "special occasion" or make-a-special-afternoon-for-enjoyment type of cigars. That said, Cohiba Robustos, Trinidad Robusto T's, and RASS, were all going to come in next, and all with a good 3-5 years age on them minimum, and also a Montecristo Especial [#1 to specify, if needed], super oily and dark, PSP quality, with about 5-7 years aging.
Skitalets Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 My "bucket list" cigars: LGC Delicioso (jar release) Cohiba EL 2006 A Hamlet hand-roll Dunhill Cabinetta Robusto The 4 cigars I've gotta have again: Boli CE (it's a crime these are being deleted) Boli Gold Medal Monte "A" RyJ Short Churchill (not a favorite but great memories associated with RyJ cigars)
partifan Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Bucket List: Dunhill Cabinetta RA 898 Upmann Petite from JFK's stash just before signing the embargo Partagas 898 UV 4 Cigars I need again SLR Pacificos - Every one I smoke I thank Rob's reviews pushing me to get a pair of boxes. Amazing cigar RyJ Ex No 4 from '99 - oldest cigar I have in numbers, gorgeous cherry, cocoa, cedar, earth flavors. CoRo Partagas 898 V from '08 - when I smoke them I think they are the best cigar I've ever had almost every time.
Colt45 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I know this might be cliché and not really in the spirit of the discussion, but if I knew I had only thirty days, cigars would not be high on my list. But if I did get around to smoking, the cigar would matter little - who I smoked with would be most important.

riazp Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I'm with Colt on this one, if I have 30 days to live before kicking the bucket, i'm smoking my good ol partagas shorts, great consistent quick cigar that never dissapoints, like that I can spend time with my family/loved ones instead

But if I did get around to smoking, the cigar would matter little - who I smoked with would be most important. Exactly that, but just to be a good host till the last draw of breath , I would offer my friends: H.Upmann Mag 46 RASCC Punch Super Selection 1 (of 03) Partagas Serie du Connaiseur Nr.2 If I still have time to track down four of the "always wanted to have" category, it would be: H.Upmann Super Coronas or "Tang" Monarchs Davidoff Haut Brion (Cuban of course) Bolivar Especial Nr. 2 (not the Regionales Alemania 09, the original ones) Any Don Candido Cheers!
