in0gravity Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Freestyle Review Partagas Serie E No. 2 Appearance: Wonderful Wrapper, perfectly contructed, very good resistance at the draw. After the first puffs it already shows how good it is. It is not overpowering despite the 54ring, almost elegant. Straight forward flavors of wood and earth. The smoke volume is huge. My face is covered in smoke. Very fresh tobacco Very well blended. At the end of the first third pepper starts tickling on the palate. Very firm ash. You can sense the power of this cigar but it’s holding back, like it wants to tell you: I am not ready to break out but wait a couple of months. During the half way point it is getting jucy with hints of leather. Very tastefull. The tickling on the palate is still present, but it is just a touch not disturbing. Very fresh almost cool, not over-heating or anything. Well into the last bid of the cigar I am getting a light buzz, the power is now very present. This cigar is addicting, after putting it down I feel like I want another one. Final thoughts: It has stardom written all over it. The E No. 2 could very well become the benchmark cigar for Habanos. Here are some pics from the journey. Enjoy. Lars
MPS Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Thanks for the review. I also enjoyed the one I smoked.
riazp Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Agreed with shlomo, looking foward to this one as a avid partagas fan. Btw, awesome ashtray, where did you get it from? a LCDH?
craigos Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Friends in Europe who are well known habanos smokers all said it was a dud from multiple boxes.Very lightweight, no flavor - all volado. Irrespective I have been looking forward to this smoke a lot (along with the edmundo dante sublimes which i got a box last week).
in0gravity Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Hi riazp, no it's the new Partagas ashtray. Please see below the picture. Habanos released this and some others (among them a Montecristo Gran Reserva ashtray and a new H. Upmann ashtray). To be honest this is the coolest of them all. regards Lars Agreed with shlomo, looking foward to this one as a avid partagas fan. Btw, awesome ashtray, where did you get it from? a LCDH?
DinoCop05 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Nice review. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on these. I hope czar gets some soon! Awesome ashtray too!
riazp Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Love the Red and Black on that partagas ashtray, I guess it represents the Serie D, P and E...just gorgeous
Figaro Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I bought the same ashtray at the LCDH in Hamburg. I have not used it yet but it's one of the nicest. Can't wait to try the E2. Enjoy!
Bahnofstrasse Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Smoked 2 on my last trip to Zurich. I was a bit underwhelmed by the one dimensional taste profile. Burned kind of hot as they both seemed a bit underfilled. I will try another 2 next week on the next trip to see if they were just an odd lot.
