For years I have kicked the tires on an idea I've had for an Awesome piece of James Bond artwork.......Let me first specify and get out of the way, I am a huge James Bond book and movie buff and trivia historian. Love it

I had an idea a while back about wanting a professional painting that portrays every actor who has played James Bond sitting around a poker table and Ian Fleming as the dealer.

Below is a photo shopped version similar to what I am talking about.

Over the past 5 years I have talked to a handful of artists about commissioning them to do such a painting. I have gotten some great feedback, but the price for just one single painting requiring such skill, is very expensive. I have an artist I know who can do it.

The more we order the cheaper the costs would be. Each would be original and numbered.

So I wanted to see who else was a big fan like me and would be interested (if the price is right and the final proofs are awesome) in going in and getting on a list to order one, so we can go ahead and commission it to be done.

Let me know. Also if you are an artist wanting to take on such a noble task, let me know

Send me a high res copy of exactly what you want and I will see how much I can get it done for here. Local painters here can copy photographs superbly.

I am getting some paintings done myself when I get back, can ask for you if you want.

I love that Lazenby is trying to squeeze in on the table with a couple of dollars, "I really am a Bond, come on guys let me play...."

We could have the bond girls all around the table watching.

I too am a HUGE Bond fan, would be interesting to get a price, count me in.

Only one other thing missing is the Vodka Martini :2thumbs:

Considering that Connery is all tapped out, Brosnan has one chip left and Moore looks to be on his last legs, Lazenby is lucky to have a few bucks left!

That would be very cool !

Great idea by the way. Are you thinking of having it done in black and white like the posted picture or in color ? Seems really good in B&W.

There's a question nagging at me, maybe it's not an important question but nonetheless, since we are buying prints what happens to the original painting?

I guess I used the term print wrong. They would all be originals, each would be numbered. The more we buy the cheaper it would be. I will change the wording.

OK. Thanks. I'm not asking you to change the wording. Actually, I guess print is the right word here.

I still don't know what happens to the original painting.

You're going to commission a painting -- oil or acrylics -- made from a photo you supply. Right?

Then prints will be made from the original painting. But then what happens to the original painting?

I will supply photos of each actor and some suggestions. Each painting will be original. the artist will actually paint one original for each order and they will be numbered. They will not be reproductions. If you are asking who will have #1, I assume the artist will keep it as reference or that is the one I will purchase.

Hope this helps. The art world is not exactly my forte, I just know something cool when I see it or think it up.

It's a neat idea. Only Roger Moore, my personal favourite Bond, looks a little shagged out. :P

My uncle is a professional painter. Works for the McMichael gallery. But I don't know that he would be interested in this sort of thing.

That is a neat picture. Daniel Craig, eh, my least favorite Bond but it's not his fault, the writing is terrible. No swanky smooth lines with the ladies, not so much a ladies man, where are the gadgets, exotic locations, cars, and ladies, oddly psychotic villains wanting to take over the world... all missing. But maybe that stuff just wouldn't fly with todays crowds.

No iron in the fire - really just thinking out loud......

You could commission one original painting for which all interested parties would split the cost, have the original digitized and archival

quality prints made (which can also be signed and numbered).

You've all ponied up for the one original, names go into a hat and a winner of the original painting gets pulled. Once digitized, additional

prints can be made for interested parties at nominal cost.

Again, just thinking out loud.

Originally, when Brazoseagle mentioned "final proofs" and "prints" I thought he was proposing something like you suggest. But then he said, "They will not be reproductions."

Anyway, your idea makes a lot of sense to me, Colt.

Thunderball is playing on tv here tonight. You've got to love a movie that starts with the hero punching a widow in the face. :surprised:

I don't want to spoil the fun, far from it, but I've been thinking about this,

(because of me not thinking about it here on the forum once)

Is there a copyright on these photos or are they in the public domaine ?

I hope that there's no problem on that side.

It's really a great project.

I wondered the same thing, Guy. But since I've been way too critical lately I decided to skip it.

But since you brought it up . . .

Maybe it's like FOH using the image of Sir Winston?
