You know you love being bad on a school night, I shall see you there!

Oh alright. You'll probably pike by 11pm anyways! :P

The Figurados, eh?

Pointy heads like piramides? Twisted like culebras? Fat in the middle and skinny on the top and bottom like a certain grape stomper perfectos?

Sounds like a great time!

I'm gutted that i can't make this one.

The line up looks absolutely fantastic.

A big thanks to Ellie, Max and Ken (and whoever else I forgot) for starting this club.

It was a great night to be had by all and meeting with new friends and catching up with older ones.

Wonderful dinner with 2 superb cigars, Rum was good too.

Hoping the next gathering to be even bigger and better.

Agreed, it was a good night. Kudos to the guys who organised the event.

The Upmann Connie 1, while well constructed and initially showed some promise, didn't grab me after the halfway mark. Though it did set up my tastebuds for the star attraction... a Partagas 898!

Partargas 898 (box code unknown, year was 2008 or 2009):

Construction: Well made, no hard spots

Wrapper: Smooth, no large veins, slight oily sheen

Shade: Colorado

Pre-light Draw: On the easy side of firm, hints of spice, leather and clean tobacco

1st Third: Opens with a blast of white pepper and spice. A bit earthy with hints of leather coming into the 2nd third. Medium bodied with a nice volume of smoke.

2nd Third: Pepper easing off and developing more earthiness and leather. Becoming more full bodied. Maybe it was the combination of rum, nearing the end of the 2nd third, starting to geta lovely headspin.

Final Third: After a quick purge, pepper and spice back on again with an undercurrent of leather. Definitely becoming more full-bodied. Laid down with an inch and a half to go as it is becoming hot and a little acrid.

Overall a fantastic cigar that deserves a space in your humidor!

Gents,

Thanks for a great evening. I have thoroughly enjoyed both events and reckon we've just about got a roll on.

A couple of photos from the evening as promised (although belated).

BTW: Loved the 898. What a monster.

Mitch.
