jjdolphin Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I just had a sel 11 and boy did I enjoy it. Does anyone know what would be a good alternative cigar with same or similar flavor profile?
tmac77 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Punch has had many incarnations of it's Corona Gorda Vitolas. The SS#2; the Black Prince; & RS #11 to name a few. For a smililar size and flavour profile, while IMO not as good as it's predecessors, I am smoking the Punch Punch which is the only Corona Gorda left in the Punch line.

I will try the Punch Punch. Anything outside of the Punch line that comes close to RS11?
Stalebread Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Have you looked around for them? I'll bet they are still available. From reputable vendors. Somewhere.

sg1234 Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 The RS12's are still fairly available. I've been searching for months for a reputable vendor with RS11's in stock. Every time I see them listed on a site as "In Stock," I order and get the dreaded "Sorry, we're out of stock" e-mail within a day or two. While still a nice cigar, the Punch Punch comes nowhere near the RS11 in terms of flavor and strength.

thechenman Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 What would you think comes closest to RS11 from other marcas? There is no comparable substitute for a good Punch RS11 much less a great one.
armedak Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 The Punch RS 12 has a similar flavor profile in a petit corona format. I would suggest this is your best bet as it seems to be around at several vendors.

Lisa has a couple of boxes up of RS #12's in the HQ selections area: Here http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107284 and here http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107282
shrink Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Punch Super Robustos Regional Edition 2006 It's the only other cigar that even comes close.
sg1234 Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I've never smoked an RS12. They are damn expensive for a mareva.
thechenman Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I've never smoked an RS12. They are damn expensive for a mareva. They used to be more inexpensive...they have become more expensive since they've been discontinued by HSA. Still...they are worth every penny of the higher price.
Stalebread Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 With all this talk about the Royal Selection 11, I decided to have one this morning. I haven't had one in a while and this one was a little stronger than I remember. Nonetheless, it was excellent with, I swear, a distinct licorice note at the beginning. After that, it settled into a foundation of toasted tobacco with hints of nut coming and going. Perfect burn and draw with lots of smoke. As good as these are (my box is from Sep '06)and given that I'm pretty sure they can be found out there, I don't know why you are looking for an "equivalent".
