Strada Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Got to say out of my lp collection I always go for the blues section: Albert King, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Bobby Bland, junior Wells... The original blues sound. Also Jazz and soul but mainly blues
gigabyte056 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Pink Floyd mostly, will go for some Cuban music from time to time. And if sitting with the wife, Jazz and soul as is her liking. Great thread.
MadMax Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Evans & Hall, Tal Farlow, Vince Guaraldi, Jobim, Astrud Gilberto
BrandonW Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 It really depends on my mood but lately Ive been picking some older stuff off my hard drive. Rainbow(Ritchie Blackmore), Triumph, Dio.
Tony12 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Had a very nice cigar the other day while listening to the Del McCoury Band's "Del and the Boys." "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" is an especial favorite. Del is the man! Bluegrass fan myself.
Colt45 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 As some have mentioned, for me it's usually the the chirping birds and the wind in the trees. When I do listen to music, it can run the gamut... Karrin Allyson is an absolute fave. Other jazz artists. Reggae. Cuban. The past couple of times I've put in the buds, a rock mix...
cigcars Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I too don't do music when smoking. I like to read and/or have a good program showing, i.e. movie, sports event, or stand up comedian.
Plato Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 So many varied, but great replies. I have some new artists to seek out!
Orion21 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson . . . Three of the best at what they did.
Rushman Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I don't often listen to music when I smoke. I am a social creature that yearns to carry on conversation while smoking. If I had to pick something, I would pick coltrane. Listening to Coltrane causes my brain to work in ways it doesn't usually work which is nice.
aavkk Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 2 years ago I would have easily said Pink Floyd but now... Our very own Bonvivant,
DougB Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Live Phish downloads, Public Radio International broadcasts or National Public Radio broadcasts.
tdlfoto Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Motorhead!! *raises devil horn symbol* killed by death!!!
seamus Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I have found myself listening to Dave Matthews while enjoying a smoke. Ill second that. Favorite album for just about anything relaxing is Pearl Jam ten.
