Vortigan Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 What a real gem of a cigar and,as often mentioned, very underrated.Paired with mineral water with a couple of slices of lemon (tip picked up from riazp, thanks mate, works well) Had them resting for about six weeks since purchase. That lovely barnyard aroma at cold.Construction and draw spot on.Really nice sweet nutty flavours from the outset that stayed throughout and were joined in the second half with some lovely milky coffee, one flavour stronger for a couple of minutes then the other seemed to take over, some slight citrus qualities too in there I think.Never more than medium bodied I'd say.Perhaps just a tad harsh towards the very end but that's maybe unfair as I was pretty much nubbing it by then.A few more weeks and I'll reach for another but I reckon a definite 89/90 just now.Short and sweet review but I wanted to post it because that's been a very satisfying smoke and has left me feeling nice and chilled, just as a good smoke should.Cheers all, Mike
Rooster Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Nice review, I really enjoy the SCDLH's El Prinple and the Oficios. Thanks.
Colt45 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I smoked a March '07 yesterday - was actually quite rich and full, some shortbread / doughy, and very toasty tobacco character. Thanks for the notes.
gigabyte056 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Lovely review of a lovely smoke. Love the chocolate nuts and coffee bean taste of this minuto.
Dbone Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Thank you for the review, Vort. Keep them coming brother The SCDHL has still to this day eluded me. I look forward the day I am able to sample from this line of cigars.
ksblazer Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Thanks for the review. I smoked one a couple of months ago from a pay it forward pass and really enjoyed it. Not sure of the box date though. I could taste that light citrus/coffee/nutty flavor it had. This will probably be my next box purchase.
