Seems like every time I get a cigar in a tube it is of better quality than boxed cigars of the same type. I'm not necessarily referring to flavor, but construction almost always seems to be superior. Is it just me, or have y'all experienced the same thing?

Kind of an odd phenomenon, they do look great though it has no bearing on flavor. I have two tubos in which the cigars look magnificent. They have beautiful wrappers, perfectly round, nicely packed and with a nice heft to them I have not found in boxes of the same cigar. I've had them for about a year but probably will not light them up for a couple more at least.

I was always suspicious of them, thinking that because you can see the cigars before you buy them, the Cubans can put inferior products in there.

Of the tubos I've had, the standard has always been remarkably good compared to loose/boxed cigars.

Truly strange.

The only reason that I like tubos, other thant he convenience factor of being able to carry cigars around in my pocket without fear of crushing them, is that I like cigars in the round. In terms of construction and performance, I haven't noticed that much of a difference. The downside to tubos is that on occassion I have gotten some butt-ugly cigars, but even worse, I think tubos are more prone to mold. That has happened to me quite a few times.

I think sometimes tubos are better because of the way they are stored. A tubo cigar will suffer less from humdity or temp. problems in your humidor. I don't think the quality is any different than the rest.
